That was Lisette Melendez's reaction when I brought up a surprising connection she shared with the legendary Lisa Lisa. 😳

Lisa Lisa broke barriers as one of the most influential Latina artists of her era and Lisette Melendez carried that torch with her own hits that fill dance floors decades later.

From Hip Hop to Hollywood and everything in between, tune in for the untold stories, unforgettable conversations, and genuine reactions you'll only hear on CTRL-ALT D-STROY on Shade45 weekdays on SiriusXM.

In this legendary story, N.O.R.E. takes us back to the early days—rolling blunts in Flushing Meadow Park and witnessing the exact moment Nas transformed from a neighborhood hero into a worldwide icon. A rare glimpse into a pivotal chapter of Queens hip-hop history.

🏆 From winning an NBA Championship with the New York Knicks to coming back to Bushwick to celebrate with the community that raised him—seeing Jose Alvarado do it as a Puerto Rican from Brooklyn hits different.

I FEEL SEEN.

Thank you, Jose Alvarado, for showing the younger versions of us what's possible. Growing up, when I played basketball at the park, someone yelled, "PLAY BIG!" That mindset stayed with me. It even became the name of my first company because, in an industry full of giants, I knew I needed something bigger than my height—I needed heart.

Every opportunity, every challenge, every room I walk into, I give it everything I had. The reason I am where I am today is simple:

I chose to PLAY BIG.

Congratulations to Jose Alvarado, the New York Knicks, Bushwick, Brooklyn, and every kid who dares to dream bigger than their circumstances. 🇵🇷🏀🏆🗽

When I played basketball in high school and at the park, the homies would always yell, “PLAY BIG!” That mindset stuck with me. It became the name of my first company because, in a game filled with industry giants, I knew I needed something bigger than just my height—I needed heart.

Every opportunity, every challenge, every room I walked into, I gave it everything I had. I pulled from my passion, my hustle, and my belief in myself. The reason I am where I am today is simple:

I chose to PLAY BIG.

Jose Alvarado is the epitome of that mindset. I'm rooting for him and the New York Knicks to bring home a championship—for the first time in many of our lifetimes. 🏆🗽🏀

NORE says NYC feels different right now. The whole city is united behind the Knicks. Seeing Nas courtside, legends in the building, and generations of fans coming together makes this playoff run bigger than basketball. 🏀🗽🔥

The city is buzzing, and history is within reach.

In the club with Jay-Z.

Most people know Jaleel White as Steve Urkel. During our conversation, he explained why the nightclub was once considered the unofficial office for rappers, entertainers, and industry power players. Before social media, DMs, and Zoom calls, deals, networking, and career-changing conversations often happened in the club.

Charge it to the game 😳

What would you rather pay: $40,000 for smashed Technics 1200s or $50,000 to clear a sample? 🤔

DJ Muggs sits down with DStroy on "Ctrl-Alt D-Stroy" to talk new album "Don't Call Me Lucky" with T.F. and how he learned lessons the hard way. During Cypress Hill's legendary Black Sunday tour, destroyed turntables night after night until a $40,000 bill forced him to stop. Meanwhile, the sample used for "Hand on the Pump" on Cypress Hill’s self-titled debut album, released in 1991, came with a hefty $50,000 price tag.
