Well! What exactly is this format of the Royal Premier League? 😂😂

Teams that won 3 out of their 4 matches in the group stage are out of the tournament, while a team that barely managed to win 1 match in the league stage is now in the FINAL! 😂

What kind of tournament format is this, and who planned this League?

There seems to be absolutely no concept of merit in a format like this.

If the objective was to reward the best-performing teams, they could have simply made the top two teams play the semi-final/final based on their league-stage performance. But no… why make it simple when we can make it complicated? 😂

Tough luck to the teams who put in their blood, sweat and effort to win 3 matches in the league stage.

Imagine winning 75% of your league games and still going home, while a team winning just 25% reaches the final.

A captain must have responsibility—and authority.

The decision to send certain players back home raises an important question:

Was this Babar Azam’s squad selection, or was it entirely the selection committee’s decision?

If the captain has no say in squad selection, then how can he be held fully responsible for the team’s failures? In that case, his role is reduced largely to making decisions on the field.

But if Babar had a say in selecting the squad, then he must also accept responsibility for those decisions.

A leader cannot demand authority when things go right and avoid responsibility when things go wrong.

Either way, the situation exposes a serious leadership and accountability problem in Pakistan cricket.
