🚨‼️ BREAKING: Major League Soccer is entering a new era! 🇺🇸⚽
MLS has officially confirmed that, starting in 2027, it will adopt a European-style football calendar, with seasons running from July to May instead of the current February to November schedule.
The 2026 campaign will be the final season under the existing format.
To make the transition smooth, MLS will stage a special 2027 competition from February to May, featuring: 🏆 Only 14 regular-season matches ✅ The top eight teams from each conference advancing to single-elimination playoffs
The move is designed to: 🔹 Align the MLS transfer window with Europe's biggest leagues. 🔹 Make it easier to attract world-class players during the summer transfer window. 🔹 Help MLS clubs become more competitive in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and on the international stage.
