CRUX Climbing is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to the sport of rock climbing and outdoor recreation for LGBTQIA+ communities in the New York metropolitan area. CRUX Climbing is a 501(c)(3) rock climbing organization dedicated to improving the mental and physical health of the LGBTQIA+ community by providing a supportive environment for participation, education, and competition. Founded
in 2008, CRUX has grown to become the largest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual rock climbing organization in the United States, providing a variety of avenues for members of the LGBTQIA+ population to participate and compete in rock climbing. By providing a welcoming, supportive environment where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or disability can participate, learn about the sport, and develop the skills necessary to become proficient, CRUX enables all members of the LGBTQIA+ community and friends and supporters to reap the benefits of the sport. We believe in the importance of physical and emotional health and the importance of experiential learning to impart life lessons that will help all participants develop the healthy habits and skills necessary to improve their lives.
