Farewell Post from Coach Juan:
Dear Sugar Maple Family,
I sincerely hope you are all doing well during these incredibly difficult times. I am writing to let you all know that I will be moving on from Sugar Maple Athletics to pursue a career in Massachusetts starting in January. I was at Sugar Maple Athletics since day one back in 2017, and it has been my most rewarding position to date. As Director, I was able to put every ounce of care I wanted to see into our programs, and it filled my life with great memories, friendships, teaching moments, and challenges overcome.
I want to thank each one of you for being an integral part in my success at Sugar Maple Athletics. Families, students, school administrators, and teachers alike all kept me motivated each day to bring a smile to my students and a positive approach to my work as a coach and director. If times were different, I would have liked to host a going away party to formally say goodbye and play some games with my students, but unfortunately that will have to wait for another time.
In regards to the future of Sugar Maple Athletics, Oren (Founder) will be steering the ship now. Our programs, classes, and relationships with our schools are ready to continue on once it becomes possible, so please feel free to reach out to Oren to inquire about classes.
Since I'll be moving in January, I do have some months here in Queens and am available for work either at a school or with families as a personal coach/small group coach. Families, if you are interested in doing some private sports or music classes with me, I am more than happy to accommodate you and your family needs. We could set up one on one socially distanced classes, or small group classes where students are socially distanced. I would wear a mask and sanitize equipment before and after each use. Additionally I am able to travel, so I can go to your backyard or local park. If you are interested in signing up for some classes with me, please feel free to contact me at my personal email ([email protected]), or give me a call at 1(917)873-6043.
Again, thank you all for choosing Sugar Maple Athletics and for believing in our work and commitment to physical education. I will certainly miss you all when I am gone, but am also very excited for my next chapter in life. I would love to stay in contact with families and teachers alike, so please feel free to email or call me, even if it’s just to chat and catch up.
It’s been an honor to work with your children and watch them grow. I'm wishing you and your families well.
Ciao for now,
Juan Catucci

A Note From Coach Oren:
When Coach Juan told me about his decision to move on from Sugar Maple Athletics, and start a new life in Massachusetts, I was filled to the brim on the spectrum of emotions. On one hand, I am terribly saddened by his departure. In addition to being one of the best coaches I know in the industry [and in almost a decade I’ve met my fair share], he was also instrumental in getting Sugar Maple Athletics into your children’s classrooms, and this is no accident or coincidence. With every fiber of his being, Coach Juan firmly believed that there was a way to make youth sports fun, while still making sure it was providing all the wonderful amenities that sports brings children, such as: an increase in confidence, leadership abilities, learning to share/teamwork, motivation to achieve one’s best, a physical outlet to train the mind and body, and so much more.
I have no doubt that Coach Juan will be successful in whatever field of work he chooses to pursue, and in that knowledge, I am happy that he is taking on a new adventure that will continue to enable him to learn and grow while still imparting his wonderful gifts to those close to him. I wish circumstances could be different, but I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Coach Juan for all the hours he tirelessly put through to ensure that every class was a quality one, and making sure that our company stood by its philosophy of instilling a love of physical education to children everywhere by connecting with them on a personal level.
His mark on Sugar Maple Athletics will be an indelible one, just as I’m sure the memories and friendships he made with all of you will ring true as well. Here’s to a talented mentor, educator, coach and friend. May you continue to brighten the lives of all you come across, with good health and good fortune.

Coach Oren
