For non-white and non-heteronormative folks, we have been told to be a certain way, to live certain dreams, to conform to different societal BS that only limits our gifts and potential. The lines were drawn for us and the cannots' were embedded in our being that limit us from showing up confidently and true to who we are.
As q***r and POC, I have struggled to show up authentically in the workplace and felt the need to hide parts of me which costed me my self-worth and confidence. But the costs in reality looked like, not seeing myself as the leader in my group, saying pass to a promotion, not asking for a raise, giving away my Intellectual property for free to gain validation, and many more...
Listen, I was a recruiter in the past I knew how to do all that! I’ve taught and helped my candidates & got tons of success but it was only when I truly got connected to who I am and my worth when it finally clicked for me.
The solution is NOT a how to guide to get promoted, ask for more money, apply for higher roles etc.
The real solution is knowing who you are and your worth so you can advocate for YOU.
I am on a mission to help other WOC and LGBTQ+ professionals to do just that!
