TAIL END: Last Chance Sale on JP Ross Custom Rods.

At the End of September we will be raising prices on our custom builds. We truly enjoy making these rods for customers and in doing so, more and more we are interacting via text and email. This is a wonderful experience for both of us, but it does involve more time and we want to keep this feature and value when you make a purchase.

When comparing our prices for custom builds to other rod builders we still feel we are very competitive; so if you have been on the fence for a custom build, consider buying now before prices go up.

New York’s wild brook trout get their own day — and they’ve earned it.

Today we celebrate a fish that tells the truth about our waters.
Brook trout only thrive where the water stays cold, the forest stays intact, and the ecosystem is healthy. They’re a keystone species, a climate sentinel, and a reminder of what “wild” really means in New York.

A few reasons they deserve the spotlight:

• They’re New York’s State Fish — officially since 1975.
• Their name, Salvelinus fontinalis, literally means “living in springs.”
• Heritage strains like Horn Lake, Windfall Pond, and Little Tupper exist nowhere else on Earth.
• They’ve survived acid rain, warming waters, and habitat loss — and they’re still fighting.
• Beaver meadows, cold groundwater, and protected forests are their lifelines.
• When brook trout disappear, the watershed is in trouble. When they thrive, the whole system thrives.

So here’s to the fish that shaped our cold-water culture.
