Congratulations to the Times News Athlete of the Week: Cole Mertz from Northwestern Lehigh's Soccer team!
Mertz had a productive week in leading his team to a 3-0 record with wins over Jim Thorpe, Palisades and Notre Dame-Green Pond. In the three games, he collected 10 goals and an assist. Against JT on Tuesday, he tallied an amazing six goals during a 10-1 victory. The following day, on Wednesday, he accounted for three of his team’s four goals in a 4-0 defeat of Palisades. He capped the week off on Saturday with a goal and an assist during a 2-0 win over the Crusaders. His production has helped the Tigers jump out to a perfect 6-0 record this season.

Tigers Boys Soccer gets it done! 🐅🔥

Cole Mertz had a hat trick, Westin Killar added one more, and Zach Masenheimer put the finishing touch in right at the buzzer as the Tigers topped Penn-Argyl 5–1!

The Tigers continue their undefeated season with a 3-1 victory, improving to 6-0 on the year!

After taking the lead in the first half with a goal from Bissel, the Tigers kept the pressure on in the second half as Cole Mertz found the back of the net twice to seal the win.
