There’s a lot of negativity directed toward anyone using AI, and honestly, that’s something I struggle to understand.
It’s completely fine to dislike AI. It’s fine to have concerns about it. It’s even fine to choose not to use it yourself. But what I don’t understand is going out of your way to belittle someone else’s hard work simply because they use a tool you don’t agree with.
AI didn’t build my business. AI didn’t spend the late nights. AI didn’t take the financial risks. AI didn’t create the products, attend the events, answer customers, pack orders, learn new skills, or put in the countless hours required to keep a small business moving forward.
What AI does do is help me organize ideas, improve my writing, brainstorm concepts, get the designs in my head out on paper and work more efficiently. Just like calculators didn’t replace mathematicians, power tools didn’t replace craftsmen, and computers didn’t replace hard work, AI is simply another tool.
Constructive criticism is valuable. Feedback is valuable. Learning is valuable. But criticism whose sole purpose is to tear someone down has never built anything.
As for me, I’ll keep learning. I’ll keep improving. I’ll keep building. The website will get better. The products will get better. I will get better.
And to anyone else who has been told their work doesn’t matter because they used a tool to help them create it: keep going. The people who are willing to learn, adapt, and keep showing up are the ones who succeed.
And to those who go out of their way to purposefully belittle others, sincerely, I hope you find something in life that brings you as much fulfillment as building something from the ground up brings me. Because creating, learning, and helping others has been far more rewarding than tearing down strangers on the internet could ever be.
