The Ragin Cajun football program turned a huge corner today. For the first time ever the Cajuns Head Coach parlays his job into a Power 5 job. The future is in good hands with Dr. Maggard. I’ve just become a Gator fan. Thank you Coach Napier for your everything you’ve done !

My take on the Coach O situation as well as any other “do we fire the coach dilemma”.
I use to tell my players that one of the many things that makes football so cool is that it’s one of the closest things you can do to real combat. Mostly anyone who has taken part in any type of combat situation will tell you the difference between life and death, victory or defeat, is trust. Trust in your fellow soldier and trust in your superiors who give the orders. Football is the ultimate game of trust. The second that players do not trust in their leaders nor the player next to them, everything beaks down. Players start trying to “cover” for others and end up not doing the job assigned to them. Football has more moving parts than one can imagine.
The problem with this is that once that trust is lost it is extremely difficult, almost impossible, to be regained. Perception is 90% of reality. Like it or not, being successful in football is paramount to the overall success and perception of a campus. Look at LSU’s overall enrollment boom after 2001. Nick Saban did that. People get hired and fired in the real world all of the time. It happens. Does O need to go? The trust question has to be looked into by LSU’s AD very closely. If the trust is gone then he needs to go, if not then give him more time. My 2 cents…

#19 Rudy (1993) Sean Astin portrays Rudy Ruettiger the never say never youngster who did whatever it took to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Although my favorite Astin characterWZ by far is Sam in The Lord of the Rings, he does a great job on the movie.
Today Turbo and I covered the Big Red Machine of the early 70’s. Hard to believe that one team had so many iconic players. ROSE, PEREZ, MORGAN, BENCH, CONCEPCION and GRIFFEY were 6 of the “Great Eight” (Geronimo, Foster also). Sparky Anderson led the greatest lineup since the Murderers Row Yankees team of 1927.
