🚨 CALLING ALL 12U CATCHERS 🚨

Cougar Baseball is looking for two 12-and-under catchers for the upcoming Laurel Tournament the weekend of July 19–20 at the Laurel Complex.

We’re not looking for all-stars.

We’re looking for two kids who feel overlooked, undervalued, or underestimated—and who are ready to prove what they can do when given a real shot.

Here’s what you’ll get:

Cougar hat and dry-fit shirt

Team outing to a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game

A chance to earn the Cougar Player of the Tournament Award, given to the player who shows the most heart, hustle, and Cougar determination

🏆 This award is proudly sponsored by Pizza Joe’s and includes a LARGE 2-topping pizza + a 2-liter soda! 🏆

Interested?

🚨 Cougar Baseball Player Call-Out! 🚨

Cougar Baseball is looking for three more ballplayers 11 or 12-year-olds —but not just any players. We’re looking for one player from Ellwood City, one player from Shenango, and one player from Laurel who are ready to learn, grow, and compete in a whole new kind of baseball program.

Our plans have shifted—we’re no longer headed to Canton. Instead, we’re focusing on two local tournaments:
📍 Laurel in July
📍 Mohawk in August

We're also working on a Cougar Baseball Day with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in August!

Practice is TODAY at 5 PM Monday at 5pm. Roster Finalize end of business Monday
📍 Suburban Field at Scotland Meadows Park
Come meet Coach Don Staransky, sign up, and complete your registration and waiver of liability.

⚾ Be ready to work hard.
⚾ Be ready to have fun.
⚾ Be ready to be part of something different.

This is not your average travel team. You need to come see for yourself why Cougar Baseball is changing the game.

We’d like you to meet The Magnificent Seven.

These seven young ballplayers showed up in the middle of a pouring rainstorm—not for attention, not because someone made them, but because they wanted it. They wanted to prove they belong. They wanted to get better. They wanted to be seen.

So they played. In the rain. On soggy ground. With soaked shoes and dripping hats. And they didn’t just go through the motions—they gave effort, energy, and heart. The kind of heart you can’t coach. The kind that says, “I'm here, and I’m not giving up.”

They listened. They learned. They laughed. They got better. And if they keep grinding like this, they won’t just win ballgames—they’ll win at life. Because character like this doesn’t fade when the tournament ends. It sticks. It builds futures.

So if you’re wondering what kind of team this is, or what kind of kids we’re working with—this is it. Right here.

This is Lawrence County Cougar Baseball. And these seven? They’re just getting started.

shout out to Chesney and Jeremiah who each braved 1

COACHES NEEDED – 13U & UNDER

We’re looking for a few good coaches—four, to be exact—for our 13 and under team here at Lawrence County Cougar Baseball.

This isn’t just about managing talent. It’s about developing it. We’re not looking for coaches with a pre-built roster of all-stars—we’re looking for people who want to teach the game, grow with these kids, and help build a program from the ground up that actually gives players a chance to compete.

I’m not claiming to have all the answers, but I’m here to learn as much as I share. My hope is that together, we can raise the bar for youth baseball across the county—because our kids deserve that.

We’ll be facing some serious competition, and I won’t lie—it’s going to take work. But if we do our jobs right, we’ll field a team that competes with heart, hustle, and respect. Do I expect to win? Of course I do. But not at the cost of development or dignity.

We’re especially encouraging coaches from 10U, 8U—even T-ball—to step up if you’re ready for the next challenge.

We’ve got eight athletic associations in this county, and I haven’t heard from one coach yet. That’s surprising, but maybe that’s just how it is. Still—I know if this opportunity had come around 25 years ago, I’d have jumped at it.

Tryouts are just a week away. If you want to pre-register a player, head over to
Lawrence County Cougar Baseball on Facebook.
If you’re interested in coaching, email me at [email protected] and let’s talk about what we can build together.

Let’s grow the game. Let’s grow our kids. Let’s get to work.
