When training, judgment, and duty collide, the personal cost can be life-changing.

Officer Joseph Magnano now faces an uphill battle after an incident that occurred in the line of duty. While the legal process moves forward, he and his family are confronting the financial and emotional challenges that come with the loss of a career, income, and stability.

This fundraiser was created to help provide support for Officer Magnano and his family during this difficult chapter, including living expenses, legal representation, and the resources needed to navigate the road ahead.

Regardless of where people stand on any individual case, supporting first responders and their families during times of hardship remains an important part of the community coming together when it’s needed most.

FundTheFirst was built to give families facing unexpected challenges a trusted platform to receive support, and we’re honored to help share Joseph’s story.

At FundtheFirst.com, our mission has always been simple: provide a secure, verified, and transparent fundraising platform for those who serve and the communities that stand behind them.

We’re honored to receive the support and endorsement of three respected organizations that share our commitment to helping others during life’s most difficult moments:

⚫ Massapequa Funeral Home
⚫ U.S. First Responders Association (USFRA)
⚫ MTA Police Benevolent Association

These organizations recognize the importance of trust, accountability, and integrity when communities come together to support individuals and families facing hardship. Their endorsements reinforce what we strive to deliver every day: a fundraising platform where every fundraiser is reviewed, every donation is protected, and every story matters.

Whether supporting first responders, military members, public safety professionals, or families navigating unexpected challenges, we remain committed to ensuring help reaches those who need it most.

Thank you to these incredible partners for standing with FundtheFirst.com and helping us continue our mission of making fundraising safer, more transparent, and more impactful for everyone.

Together, we’re building stronger communities—one verified fundraiser at a time.

When tragedy strikes the first responder community, the response is often immediate, powerful, and deeply personal.

In January 2022, the FundtheFirst.com community came together to support the families of fallen NYPD Police Officers Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora following their heartbreaking Line of Duty deaths. What began as a call for support quickly became one of the most impactful examples of what can happen when thousands of people unite behind a common cause.

📊 Campaign Impact:
• $540,292 Raised
• 6,379 Donors
• Support provided directly to the families of Officers Rivera and Mora

Organized by fellow NYPD member Keith Hall and the NYPD Bowling Team, this fundraiser demonstrated the strength of the law enforcement family and the generosity of people across the country who wanted to honor two officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Officer Jason Rivera and Officer Wilbert Mora represented the very best of public service—dedicated professionals who answered the call to protect others. While no amount of money can ever replace a loved one, the overwhelming support shown through this fundraiser helped ease financial burdens and reminded their families that they would never face their loss alone.

At Fund the First, every campaign tells a story, but some become lasting reminders of what communities can accomplish when they stand together. More than half a million dollars was raised not because of a platform, but because thousands of people chose to take action, donate, share, and support families during one of the most difficult moments imaginable.

This fundraiser remains a powerful example of our mission: providing a trusted platform where people can come together to support first responders, military members, medical professionals, teachers, and families in need.

To every donor, every person who shared the campaign, and every supporter who helped honor Officers Rivera and Mora—thank you for proving that even in the darkest moments, compassion and community can shine the brightest.

In October 2025, 6-year-old Layla Crews was diagnosed with leukemia after experiencing health issues that led to extensive medical testing. Since then, Layla and her family have been facing an unimaginable battle filled with treatments, appointments, and uncertainty.

Layla is a vibrant young girl who loves art, gymnastics, spending time with friends, and watching her favorite shows. She is also the daughter of Sean Crews, a dedicated member of the Rockville Centre Fire Department who has spent more than two decades serving and protecting his community at all hours of the day and night.

Now, it’s our turn to stand beside a family that has spent years standing up for others.

This fundraiser will help support Layla’s ongoing medical care and treatment expenses while also bringing the community together at a benefit event in Rockville Centre. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps ease the burden on a family focused on what matters most—helping Layla win her fight.

At FundtheFirst.com, we are honored to provide a trusted platform where communities can rally around families during life’s most difficult moments. Please consider supporting Layla’s journey and help us show the Crews family that they are not facing this battle alone.

When life delivers one of its hardest moments, communities often come together in remarkable ways. This fundraiser was created to support Johnny Chalen following the passing of his beloved father, helping ease the financial burden associated with funeral services and related expenses during an incredibly difficult time.

In just 10 days, 49 donors have already stepped forward, raising more than $4,400 toward the $20,000 goal—a powerful reminder that even in times of loss, no one has to face hardship alone. Every donation represents more than financial support; it represents compassion, solidarity, and a message to Johnny and his family that their community stands beside them.

At FundtheFirst.com, we are honored to provide a trusted platform where friends, family, coworkers, and supporters can rally around those experiencing life’s most challenging moments. Whether it’s helping a family recover from tragedy, supporting someone through a medical crisis, or honoring the memory of a loved one, our mission remains the same: connecting people who care with people who need support.

The Lloyd Harbor Police Benevolent Association has officially endorsed FundTheFirst.com, recognizing our continued commitment to supporting first responders, veterans, and their families when they need it most.

In his endorsement, Lloyd Harbor PBA President Kevin Church—a Marine Corps veteran and police officer—described FundTheFirst.com as a “trusted resource for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.”

That statement means a great deal to us because it comes from someone who understands service, sacrifice, and the importance of having people in your corner during life’s toughest moments.

Since 2020, FundTheFirst.com has connected communities across the country with verified fundraisers, helping those facing tragedy, hardship, medical emergencies, line-of-duty deaths, and other critical needs. Our mission has always been simple: provide a trusted platform where people can help people.

We are honored to have earned the support of the Lloyd Harbor PBA and grateful for their partnership, trust, and recognition.

To President Kevin Church and the entire Lloyd Harbor Police Benevolent Association—thank you for standing with us and the thousands of families we have been privileged to serve.

More than 590 donors came together to honor the life and legacy of Suffolk County Corrections Officer Steven “SK” Krayewski, raising over $64,000 for his family through the power of community.

This fundraiser is a reminder that when tragedy strikes, people don’t just offer thoughts and prayers—they take action. Friends, family, coworkers, members of the law enforcement community, and complete strangers united behind one common goal: supporting a family during one of the most difficult moments imaginable.

The response to this campaign reflects the impact SK had on those around him and demonstrates the incredible generosity that exists when a community comes together for one of its own.

At FundtheFirst.com, stories like this are why we built the platform. Every donation represents someone choosing to stand beside a family in need, and every successful fundraiser is proof that compassion, trust, and community still matter. We are honored to provide a place where people can rally around those facing life’s toughest challenges and make a real difference when it matters most.

Every day, law enforcement officers put themselves in harm’s way to keep our communities safe. On April 6, 2026, Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Mario Alarcon was struck from behind while working on Interstate 95, suffering serious back injuries that have left him unable to work. As the sole provider for his wife and two children, Sgt. Alarcon is now facing financial hardship after his workers’ compensation claim was denied.

This is exactly why FundtheFirst.com exists—to rally behind those who have dedicated their lives to serving others when they need support the most.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation or sharing this fundraiser to help ease the burden on Sgt. Alarcon and his family during this difficult time.
