It's always cool to see what the fish have been feeding on once they hit the deck—whether it's alewife's getting spit up or pebbles from lake trout sucking up round gobies off the rock bed. Don't be afraid to run some of your baits off the bottom for those sleepy trout!

We have been using Howie's Tackle flies for a long time. We've even tried making our own. They turned out pretty good, but they were never quite as good as the ones straight out of the package. We definitely recommend grabbing a few and giving them a try. Unless you're getting them at Bass Pro Shops… then maybe not as much?

Whole arsenal killing it this past month, especially the Raspberry Carbon from Moonshine Lures. Nineteen in a 4.5-hour dock-to-dock trip. We trolled this spoon around for years with little to no action. Amazing what time and place will do for color selection. What makes them choose and what makes them bite?
