Back in 2007, a student named Peter Kolinsky started the CCSU Volleyball club. In 2009 the CCSU Volleyball club won the NECVL division 2 championship. The club vanis
hed and without the involvement of Pete, it lost its club at CCSU. In 2012, Brian Choplick started the CCSU Volleyball Club up again and included both men and women. In 2013, Max Vaughan helped Brian Choplick to recruit enough members to fill both a women's club and a men's club at CCSU. In 2014 & 2015 the club improved each year on it's amount of team members as well as its amount of wins. In 2014 Max Vaughan was selected to the all New England team. The 2014-2015 CCSU Men's Volleyball team had its best finish this year since 2009. CCSU ended the season placing 4th at the NECVL regional tournament with a final record of 23-9! Congratulations to OPP Pat Dwyer & OH Max Vaughan on being named to the NECVL All-Tournament team! The club was also recognized by the CCSU SUBOG for being the university's "Club Sport of the Year"! In 2016, Captains Donald Colebrook (All New England) & Brian Leblanc helped to lead the team to its first NECVL Championship since 2009. Mark Horanzy was also selected to the All New England team & Jose Rodriguez was selected as the MVP. In 2017, we had our best ever regular season with an undefeated record of 11-0 (22-2). The team was ranked as high as #19 in the country during March. The team earned the #1 overall seed heading into the New England Championships and came in 3rd in the NECVL after a great run at repeating for the title. The boys finished the season with a 13-2 record (29-7 in sets). The team was also able to get 2 more All New England selections (Jose Rodriguez(2), Jace Murphy) That marks 8 All-NECVL selections for CCSU in the last 4 seasons. The club also won the CCSU SUBOG award for "Most Outstanding Club Sport" for the 2nd time in 3 seasons! The team now heads off to Kansas City to challenge themselves at the National Championships for the first time in Club History! In 2017-2018, we look to face new, exciting challenges. First being that the club moves from NECVL D2 up to NECVL D1. High level competition throughout the regular season will give us the best possible preparation for nationals in St. Louis, where we look to improve from placing 26th last year in D2.
