Basic Leadership Training (BLT) and Leadership Academy (LA), conducted at NAS Whiting Field, were absolute successes! Both programs are weeklong leadership training events offering opportunities for our Cadets to train side-by-side with Milton and Pace high schools’ NJROTC programs.
The Cadets trained across the full spectrum from physical fitness, close order drill, sword manual, rifle manual, guidon drill, various leadership classes, as well as instructor led mentorship discussions.
Cadets were evaluated on each of the areas mentioned above to include an academics exam as well as their ability to lead while calling commands during the close order drill of a squad sized element comprised of their peers.
We are so impressed and proud of our Cadets for their hard work and dedication. They showed up early and stayed late, put forth all the effort required, and never complained (at least not out loud).
I believe their week was well spent and their growth and newfound confidence are immeasurable elements etched within the fabric of their character possessing the potential to positively affect them for the rest of their lives.
Thank you to all of the parents and guardians who allowed their Cadets to participate and assisted with the early mornings and late afternoons. An additional huge shoutout to the family members and fellow Cadets who showed up to lend a hand, assisted with gear and chow, and who stopped by to offer their help! We would NOT have been successful without you all!
It is absolutely Greater to be a Raider!
