Maria Rita Sousa

Maria Rita is attending Highlands as a foreign exchange student from Portugal. This is her first year on the team and first time swimming competitively. She also participates in soccer, tennis, and DECA.

Her favorite event is the 50 Free and her proudest moment of the season was dropping 17 seconds in her 100 Free. Her favorite memory was the first meet of the season when she got the wrong swimsuit size and couldn’t get it off and her friends had to help. There were lots of laughs. 😂

After graduation, Maria Rita will return to Portugal to go to college and of course will come back and visit! Thank you for being part of our team!

Izabella Rowe

Izabella has been on the team for 2 years and this is her first time swimming competitively, although she's been swimming her whole life. She is very involved in Marching Band and a member of the Track & Field team.

Her favorite event is the 200 Free Relay and her proudest moment of her swim career was dropping 8 seconds in her 100 Breaststroke.

After graduation, Izabella plans to attend a two-year nursing program. Thank you for being part of our team!

Elissa Mlinarcik

Elissa is a student at St. Joseph High School and has been a member of the team for 3 years. She has been swimming for 5 years and her other teams have included the New Kensington Stingrays YMCA and SPY YMCA.

Elissa is a 2026 Commended National Merit Scholar, Co-President of the Empowering Women Club, and Director & Choreographer for Mary Queen of Apostles' school musical.

Her favorite event is the 200IM and her favorite memory is having fun practices- especially spinning a wheel to decide what they did during practice.

After graduation, Elissa will attend IUP Honors College to major in History Education with plans to be a middle school teacher or a family lawyer. We are proud to have you on our team!
