A BIG THANKS! to these great people for supporting our student-athletes. These local business owners stepped up and sponsored snacks to help fuel our soccer, powerlifting, and basketball athletes through the end of the semester. Mikie Dias, Terrence Bimah, Justin Boudreaux, and Ian Simoneaux contributed to the Mustang nutrition program to help these dedicated athletes reach their full potential. It truly takes a village! Thanks for everything you do for Assumption High School!

After a few days of technical difficulties, we are back in business. These dedicated young ladies showed up for practice this morning even though they could have slept all day since we didn’t have school. We appreciate your commitment to our program!

We had great weather for practice today, with the clouds allowing us to practice without any equipment or time modifications. Our crew was able to provide sideline and drone video for the coaches, as well as hydration and Florida water for the players. Mustang Volleyball and Cross Country are getting started, so we will have plenty to do in the coming months to support our athletes.

After looking at the forecast yesterday, we decided to change the football practice schedule to accommodate for the heat. We met with the coaches and identified the most important parts of practice and completed those drills first. Although we eventually got chased inside by the heat, we were able to get in some work underneath the clouds before the WBGT reached the danger zone.

After a couple days of lightning, we were able to get on the field without interruption today. Per Louisiana law, every high school has to use a wet bulb globe thermometer (WBGT) to assess the ambient temperature of the surrounding environment. We utilize a device that calculates several values including temperature, wind speed, and sun angle to give us the information we need to decide when it is safe to practice. We appreciate the community support we receive through fundraisers and other programs that allow us to purchase the necessary tools and equipment to keep our athletes safe. We’ll share more about the device and how it works in future posts.

Our first football practice of 2025-26 was delayed due to lightning, but we still managed to hit the field to get in some quality work. Volleyball is underway as well; our squad will have plenty to do to keep up with all of the Fall sports at AHS.

We would like to thank Rich Abadie with Riddell for stopping by yesterday to educate some of our football coaches and MOD Squad members on the proper techniques of helmet fitting, maintenance, and repair. It’s another step towards getting professionally prepared for the upcoming sports season at Assumption High School. Our young student athletes deserve our best efforts and we are working hard to provide just that!

We were back at it again today after yesterday’s monsoon. Had a little scrimmage in the heat. As always, our team of experts handled every task with great attitudes and relentless energy. So proud to work with this group of talented youngsters. Finished off the scrimmage with some electrolyte popsicles.
