Kayak Trails of the Waccamaw River - Peachtree Landing, Peachtree Road, Myrtle Beach, SC (2026)

The map shows the 6 trails that are shown in the posts below all combined together.

Peach Tree Landing is on the east side of the Waccamaw River and is not far from Myrtle Beach SC. It is one of my favorite landing because it is very close to multiple landings for short trips. It has multiple creeks and channels in the area to explore. It has a hard surfaced paved parking lot that can hold 7 vehicles with a hard surface launch area.

This landing is popular for rental and touring companies. It is popular because of the low current and beautiful scenery, including wildlife. If you need to rent a kayak, then by all means use those companies. If not, then I hope you can use these trails and save money.

The landing is about 107 miles from the dam according to the Waccamaw River Blue Trail.

Unfortunately, it doesn't have a Porta-Potty.

I have seen small campers camp here sometimes.

It is not too far from the Socastee Wing Bridge, but it is not the landing that is right next to the Swing Bridge Park.

This chart helps knowing which way the current is going. For example, before high tide you can go up river with the current, stop at Bucksville Landing at around high tide and then go back to Peachtree when the tide is going down and you will paddle with the current both ways.

Here are some suggested trails that will have more detail information in posts below.

As you can see, all of the waterways between Peachtree Landing and Enterprise Landing have been paddled. Also all the waterways between Peachtree Landing and Bucksville Landing have been paddled. Plus a paddle down the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

This post will show 10 suggested trails in order of the miles paddled and type of paddle (loop/shuttled) with minimal description. Some suggested trails are shorter trails than the long trails shown in the maps for people who want to do shorter trails.

Loop Trails

3.4 Miles Peachtree Landing - Big Buckskin Creek - Waccamaw River - Peachtree Landing
This paddle cuts over to Buckskin Creek, up the creek. Then turns down the Waccamaw River and heads back to Peachtree Landing.

6.7 Miles - Peachtree Landing - Big Buckskin Creek - Waccamaw River -Peachtree Lake - Peachtree Landing
This paddle cuts over to Buckskin Creek, up the creek, Then turns down the Waccamaw River and heads back toward Peachtree Landing, but makes a left to Peachtree Lake before it reaches Peachtree Landing. Then heads back to Peachtree Landing.

6.7 Miles - Peachtree Landing - Big Buckskin Creek - Waccamaw River -Peachtree Lake - Peachtree Landing

This trail is one of our favorite kayak trips. It starts heading down the Waccamaw River and turns up the Big Buckskin Creek. It the turns up a channel to it reaches the Ladder Tree. It turns around and when it reaches the Big Buckskin Creek again, the trail turns left up to the Waccamaw River. The trail then goes down the Waccamaw River, heading back to the Peachtree Landing. Before it reaches the Peachtree Landing it turns left to paddle the Peachtree Lake. The paddle turns around and heads back to the Peachtree Landing.

There are 2 maps for this trail. One is to show some key locations and the other is to show the mileage during the paddle.

3.4 Miles Peachtree Landing - Big Buckskin Creek - Waccamaw River - Peachtree Landing

This paddle is a shorter version of the paddle shown in the previous post. It skips the portion of the previous paddle that loops around Peachtree lake.

The trail starts heading down the Waccamaw River and turns up the Big Buckskin Creek. It the turns up a channel to it reaches the Ladder Tree. It turns around and when it reaches the Big Buckskin Creek again, the trail turns left up to the Waccamaw River. The trail then goes down the Waccamaw River, heading back to the Peachtree Landing.

This trip goes up the Waccamaw River to Bucksville Landing. The Bucksville Landing has an chimney that stands by itself where a house use to be. Bucksville Landing is on the west side of the river.

This post shows 2 different versions of the same trip. It turned out to be approximately the same mileage. But there was slightly different exploration done during the paddle.

11 Miles - Peachtree Landing -Waccamaw River - Bucksport Marina - Peachtree Landing

This trails goes downriver to Bucksport Marina and loops back to Peachtree Landing. It passes close to Enterprise Landing, but it goes down the right side of an island. Enterprise Landing is on the left side of the island.

Another map of a trail has been added that starts at Peachtree Landing and ends at Wacca Wache Marina, which is 13.6 miles long.

10.6 Miles Peachtree Landing -Waccamaw River - Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway -Rosewood Landing

This trip goes to a landing that is not on the Waccamaw River. It goes to Rosewood Landing, which is on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. The trip heads down the Waccamaw River towards Enterprise Landing and goes close to the Enterprise Landing, which is the first Landing to be on both the Waccamaw River and Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway in SC. Just before it reaches Enterprise Landing, it turns left towards the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. The trails weaves back and forth exploring different waterways until it reaches Rosewood Landing.

There are 2 maps to show 2 different versions of the same paddle.

This is a paddle that did not start at Peachtree. I have added this paddle because it could be added to the trail shown in the previous post that ended at Rosewood Landing.

Rosewood Landing is also know as Chief James landing. This trail goes further down the Intracoastal Waterway and turns around at the Harrelson Blvd. It also goes up the Socastee Swamp for a short detour.
