Having grown up 3 miles south of the Muskegon Piers on beautiful Lake Michigan, fishing has always run through my veins. I have fished West Michigan’s lakes and rivers since I was a little boy of 5. Whether chasing our migratory Salmon, Steelhead and Trout on the Great Lakes and rivers, to Tarpon, Permit and Pelagic species in the oceans and flats around the world, fishing is my passion. Texas Black Spot Invitational was an absolute blast, per usual! Congrats to a great friend Ryan Freeman on his first title! We had an amazing 4 days in south Texas chasing tails from the flats to the gulf. Thankfully when I got home the fish were right where I thought they would be! Sorry for the lack of posts, it’s been a busy July with tournament fishing, guiding and sneaking in a quick trip to Mackinac island for my brother’s 40th birthday (he’s really old). Fishing has been pretty outstanding and we’ve been able to stay consistently on top of them, even with the ever changing water temps and conditions. I was fortunate to be asked to fish with Team GoodEye for the big boys tournament in Ludington and we pulled off a first place finish! We also fished Muskegon Pro-Am together taking 4th overall and winning the 333, as well as big fish for the pro division. The women had a blast fishing the women’s/kids Friday in Muskegon. Charter fishing has been pretty consistent with lots of big kings around, with also a mixed bag fishery on most days. I only have a few dates left for August if anyone wants to get out. Had a great weekend fishing the Grand Haven Offshore Challenge this pass weekend. Day one we posted the biggest box of the tournament sticking to our program in some pretty rough water. Day 2 was a struggle for us to catch our larger trout and we ended up slipping to second place by a pound. Almost secured back to back championship wins, but came up a little short. We took first in the 333, won biggest fish and were blessed with a plaque in honor of Captain Willis ❤️. Big We**ie Brand rotators and flies were key to our success. Blood Run Fishing diver rods and wire kept us deep and hooked up. Church Tackle kept our boards running straight. Okuma Fishing USA reels and rods kept us tight! Whitewater Fishing kept us dry a, warm, comfortable and most importantly the most stylish team! Thank you to all of our sponsors for outfitting us with the best equipment on the lake!
