Starting in a forested wetland, we’ll pass into open, marshy wetland, through a bog and then out into North Bay of Great Pond. Spring greens of emergent aquatic plants will line the shore and some bog-dwelling trees and shrubs will be in bloom. We’ll be on the lookout for returning and migrating birds including loons, canada geese, and sandhill cranes. If we’re lucky, we might hear the unique sounds of the elusive American bittern.

Get excited! We told you we had something amazing planned. October 7th, Oktoberfest weekend, at 3:30 bring your favorite “witch craft” paddle style and join us for our first annual Witch Paddle in Belgrade Lakes with our friends from Wilderness Adventure Guide Service.

Canoe, Kayak, Paddleboard, you name it! Meet at the Belgrade Center for All Seasons at 3:00 with non-perishable good donations for Belgrade/Rome Food Pantry and we’ll set paddling as a group for 3:30.

Course will be posted soon, but easy beginners course for all ages (weather depending) to the village and back. Approx. 1/2 hour either way.

Photo op from the Bridge so we’ll do our best to stop as a group and another back at the Center.

No registration required just bring donation! T-Shirts will be available on location for purchase(stay tuned for a sneak peek), and we encourage your best witch attire!

We can’t wait to see everyone there! 🧙‍♀️❤️🍂🚣‍♀️

**safety in place, with two chase boats provided by students at MMTC & Wilderness Adventure Guide Service. We are encouraging no motor boats due to space and out of respect of those on smaller witchcraft. Wilderness guide service does have some rentable space on the pontoon for anyone who doesn’t partake in canoe, kayaking or paddle boarding.

Any stream view will allow the paddle to be specatated easily like the anyique boat parade!

We’re excited to see you all there!

**Rentals available with Jason call 207-660-7130

We had a fantastic time paddling with the Watershed Association on their annual Paddle Trek!

We paddled the adventurous route from Mount Vernon to Wayne with about 60 other paddlers, portaging between lakes and streams.

Minnehonk Lake to Hopkins Pond to Hopkins Stream to Taylor Pond to Echo Lake to Lovejoy Pond to Pickerel Pond and finally finishing up in Pocasset Lake.

We’ll definitely be back again next season. Thank You to all the volunteers and to everyone that takes an active role ensuring the well being of their watershed!
