Many of our members, patrons, and friends have been asking about the course, and we wanted to share a firsthand look at the progress on our greens.
Several committee members provided the “before” photos, and I personally took the “after” photos today. These are real photographs - no AI-generated images! I have to say, I’m blown away by the improvement in just one week and feeling much more optimistic about the road ahead.
The first step was a heavy charcoal treatment to help counteract the chemicals that damaged our greens. That treatment turned the greens pitch black, and some of that charcoal is visible in the earlier photos. Once it had taken effect, we had a better opportunity for new growth. A week ago, we used ¼-inch solid tines, 1 inch deep, re-seeded with 1 lb. of creeping bent grass per 1000 sqft with a drop spreader and then lightly broomed in and the growth since then has been very encouraging.
We’ve also included a closer look at the test area on Hole 8, where we began this process about a month ago. That area has already been mowed several times, and seeing how well it has filled in gives us hope for the rest of the greens.
There is still work ahead, and the greens need more time to recover, but this is progress worth sharing.
