Can you believe it we are almost done with our first week of baseball! What a week it has been. I just want to say I have heard many different things this week regarding the stand volunteers and I’m here to help clear some things up and hopefully stop some of the rumors as well.
-Yes each team is dedicated a week to help get volunteers.
-No you as a parent do not have to cover every day. We are only asking for you to work one of those days through that week that best works for you.
-No it does not have to just be a parent, it can be a family member, friend, teen that you know needs community service hours for school, anyone you would trust to fill in for you.
- Yes we do offer an opt out fee of $40
- No that does not mean you have to pay $40 if you have more than one child on different teams. It’s just $40.
-if you do pay to opt out, it is your responsibility to inform each team that you have paid and to also inform of which team you payed the money to. This is incase it gets lost in translation. We are all human and things get overlooked and people forget.
-lastly if we do not have volunteers to help cover, the stand will not open.
So to clear things up we are only asking for you to work one day, one game, two hours. I understand a lot of people are upset over this new rule, but over the last several years we have little to no volunteers. We have the same 4/5 parents that will help when they can and the rest of the time we have to pay for help. Every time we have to pay for help that comes out of the money we are trying to raise to pay for umps, pay the water bill, pay the electricity, pay for the food and drinks, pay to help keep the fields maintained and keep improving every year.
