A big thank you to Doug Johnson and the staff at Johnson True Value Hardware and Gardens here in Mt. Pulaski for their help with some recent plumbing projects, and their Federal Firearm License firearm transfer service in helping me to acquire some hard to find new additions for my project list.
Rumor has it they have some newly-arrived G***k and Smith & Wesson models in stock...
Using a firearm transfer service such as that offered by Doug at Johnson True Value, if you happen to find a firearm for sale online or offered for sale by a private citizen of another state that isn't available or in stock through local dealers, which is all too common these days due to unprecedented levels of sales and the resulting supply-chain issues, you are able to contact Doug and make arrangements in advance for him to perform a firearm transfer for you.
Once arrangements for the transfer are made in advance (ALWAYS MAKE ARRANGEMENTS IN ADVANCE), you would then be able to purchase and pay for the firearm online or even in-person yourself, but you would then have the firearm shipped to Johnson True Value under their Federal Firearm License with the required information they will provide to you, where you would then complete all the required Federal Firearm purchase forms, complete the IL-mandated 72-hour waiting period, and then take possession of the firearm just as if you had purchased the firearm directly from Johnson True Value. A small $25 fee for the service is charged, which is both very reasonable and customary for this type of service.
