What a weekend it’s been! Happy to have my mom and dad hop in the little tin-can boat and do some catching! All in all we caught tons of big sunnies, loads of big crappies, and all sorts of little bass. It was a great weekend! Thanks Aunt Anita for hosting us once again, I can’t wait for the next time!

It’s hard for this Basshead to get excited about panfish, but this place really is a panfishing paradise! Making it all the more special is the fact that all fish were caught on special handmade jigs, including my new 10.5” pb sunfish which was followed up by my even newer 10.75” personal best sunfish! We had a great first trip out, with many more to follow before the weekend’s up! Happy Friday friends!

Kicked off spring break chasing big crappies in southern Iowa! It was a great night with great weather and better company! We caught about 30 fish tonight, all on homemade, hand-tied jigs! Lure making is a new endeavor for me, and I’m super happy these special hair jigs seem to be legit!

Not a tough choice for me, but my question is, do the fish know about this?

Spring fever’s setting in and I’ve started booking trips! The other day when temps hit the 40s I celebrated by spooling about 20 reels with fresh line for the season!

Went out on Tonka on a scouting mission this morning preparing for the guide week ahead. Joining me was my friend Greg. We ended up catching quite a few fish (5 different species) and with a couple nice ones mixed in. The fish weren’t jumping into the boat for us today, it seemed a little slow, but with patience and persistence we managed to bring quite a few boat side!

Took the bros on a quick trip to the mighty Mississippi, and boy was it snapping! Hardly 5 casts before one of us had a fish! We caught a ton, mostly small, but a handful of bigger fish including an 18” and a 4 lb 19.5” mixed in made for fun outing! Now it’s back to Tonka next week for some guide trips! I’m bringing back throwback Thursday to reshare this gem from 7 years ago. Just my youngest and me up north canoe fishing. Peace and serenity unmatched without even the sound of a motor. Would you believe me if I said I still remember this particular evening of fishing with my dude? Not gonna lie, I don’t remember the fish we caught, but I will always remember this evening.
