Mother/son trip today, the auction winners of the Women Anglers of Minnesota online fundraising auction. They drove quite a ways to hop in the boat this morning, and I’m glad they did! After catching a handful, Alex stopped messing around with the two pound largemouth and pulled this merciless fighting smallie out from under a dock! Not to be outdone, mom Laura then pulled this almost 21”, 4 1/2 pound bucket mouth up from the weeds! It was a great day!

When one of the staples of the Lake Minnetonka fishing guide community, Kurt Erickson asks if you can participate in one of his trips, you say yes! Today I hopped in on a benefit hosted by Intera Capital Partners and Erickson Guide Service along with a solid cast of friendly and familiar faces from the guide scene.

Well, my guests and I drifted upon a nice group of fish, and darned if we didn’t end up with the W! Mike then was able to chose his charity of choice to benefit: Winning Pathways Foundation It was a special moment following a fun day of fishing!

Today was the day Ron Schara and I took MN-FISH members, supporters, and online auction winners Eric and Ben fishing on gorgeous Lake Minnetonka. While it started off chilly and foggy the fishing was hot. Several species with lots of bass and pike filled a pretty action packed day! Thanks Eric and Ben for supporting MNFish, thanks MNFish for supporting the industry of fishing we love here in Minnesota, and thanks Ron for joining us!

What a weekend it’s been! Happy to have my mom and dad hop in the little tin-can boat and do some catching! All in all we caught tons of big sunnies, loads of big crappies, and all sorts of little bass. It was a great weekend! Thanks Aunt Anita for hosting us once again, I can’t wait for the next time!

It’s hard for this Basshead to get excited about panfish, but this place really is a panfishing paradise! Making it all the more special is the fact that all fish were caught on special handmade jigs, including my new 10.5” pb sunfish which was followed up by my even newer 10.75” personal best sunfish! We had a great first trip out, with many more to follow before the weekend’s up! Happy Friday friends!
