COACH SPOTLIGHT: CORBIN WHITE
Some programs build traditions. The best programs build leaders who return home to carry those traditions forward.
Jayhawk Linn Wrestling is proud to welcome Corbin White as its new head wrestling coach. A former Jayhawk standout, White returns to lead the same program where he built one of the most accomplished wrestling careers in school history.
During his time as a Jayhawk, White established a standard of excellence that still stands today. He completed his high school career with an outstanding 125-20 record, won four regional championships, qualified for the Kansas State Tournament four times and earned three state medals.
White captured two Kansas state championships and also recorded a third-place finish. He remains the first—and still the only—boys wrestling state champion in Jayhawk Linn history, cementing his place among the greatest wrestlers ever to wear the Jayhawk singlet.
Following high school, White continued his wrestling career at Fort Hays State University, competing at the NCAA Division II level. His success extended well beyond the wrestling mat. He earned NWCA Scholar All-America honors, received multiple MIAA Academic Excellence Awards and maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Those accomplishments demonstrated the same discipline, commitment and work ethic that helped make him a champion at Jayhawk Linn.
Now, White returns home to take over a program with a proud and successful tradition.
For years, Jayhawk Linn Wrestling has been recognized as one of the premier small-school wrestling programs in Kansas. The Jayhawks have captured regional team championships, finished as regional runners-up and consistently competed among the strongest programs in the region and state.
The program has also produced numerous regional champions, state qualifiers, state placers and state runners-up, creating a culture defined by toughness, hard work and high expectations.
White understands exactly what that tradition means because he helped build it.
He knows what it takes to become a champion. More importantly, he understands what it takes to develop champions both on the wrestling mat and in the classroom.
With one of its own leading the program, the future of Jayhawk Linn Wrestling is bright. White’s experience, leadership and passion for the sport provide an incredible opportunity to build upon an already outstanding tradition while guiding the next generation of Jayhawks toward even greater success.
