Manuel Minix went with me today to work pups. He brought his pup from our current litter. We gave them each five or so bird contacts around the pigeon pole. Then we ran them two at a time and let them have a couple of finds with birds in launchers. I also called them in a few times and teased them up with a bird to keep their attention and keep them going with us.

This is the first opportunity for these pups to find a bird on their own. The two that found the bird were not very confident, but that will come. The pup in the back slams into a back on her first real opportunity to do so. Dale Smith

Carl Lichtenstein bought a pup out of our current litter when they were 8 weeks old. He wanted to come and work his pup and get some bird exposure. He brought his son with him, and his son seems to be a really good photographer. He took a bunch of pictures and I’m posting some here. I set up a pigeon pole and check corded each pup in and gave each one 4, or 5 bird contacts. After this we just took them all on a short run, and I used a tethered pigeon to keep them interested and going with us.

I routinely use my pigeons for training and they fly home from about 8, miles. I had one fly home from 100, miles today...

They play football and baseball indoors. I think there’s a future in indoor bird hunting.
