🎯 Congratulations to our Piedmont Academy Shotgun Team! 🎯

The Cougars finished 5th Place in the GIAA AAA State Shotgun Tournament held this past week at Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, Georgia.

We are extremely proud of our coaches and shooters for their dedication and outstanding performance throughout the season.

👏 Special thanks to our distinguished S***t Coach, Mr. Doug Trautman, for his exceptional commitment and leadership this season. Coach Trautman traveled with the team to every practice and competition—even when s***t wasn’t involved—providing invaluable guidance and support to our shooters.

💙 We would also like to thank our Athletic Director, Coach Danny Camp, for his continued support and presence at our shoots and at the state competition. His encouragement and leadership mean so much to our athletes and the entire program.

We had our last home shoot this past Saturday at Old Hudson Plantation and we came away with 2nd place breaking 632 clays out of 750. Barrett Downing was 2nd place for HOA with 136 out of 150. Morgan Hayes tied for 3rd and Kinsley Spears 4th for Female HOA. Our top shooters were:

This past Saturday our team competed at Burnt Pine for the first time. We placed 2nd out of 6 teams. Our top 5 shooters were:

1-Davis Downs-87+49=136
2-Barrett Downing 89+46=135
3-Everett Smith 87+47=134
4-Elliott Smith 84+44=128
5-Ty Delamar 83+42=125 125

Morgan Hayes was the female HOA for the competition.

This weekend the Piedmont Shotgun Team participated in our second competition of the season. We hosted the shoot at Old Hudson Plantation. The shooters competed in 100 sporting clays and 50 s***t targets. We finished 2nd overall among 8 teams. Proud of all of our shooters.

Barrett Downing was 3rd overall.
Davis Downs was 4th overall.
Morgan Hayes was 1st in the female division.
Kinsley Spears was 4th in female division.

Today the Piedmont Shotgun Team participated in our first competition shoot of the season. We finished 2nd overall among 6 schools competing. Proud of all of our shooters.

Barrett Downing was 2nd overall.

Our 2024 State Competiton is complete. We moved from GIAA AA to GIAA AAA and competed against some great schools. We walked away 2nd in the state, breaking 1366 targets out of 1500. Emory Hilliard was 3rd and Drake Tingler was 4th in the state for trap. Our top shooters were Emory Hilliard (277), Barrett Downing (277), Drake Tingler (276), Davis Downs (274) and Jake Pope (262).
We also had 4 All-State shooters: Barrett Downing, Davis Downs, Drake Tingler and Emory Hilliard.

I am very proud of all of our shooters this year and all of their accomplishments. They worked hard this year.

Thank you to our coaches and parents, this would not be possible without each one of you!
