🌊 🌊💔 Drowning Doesn’t Take a Season Off — Especially in Texas 💔🌊

Most people think of drowning as a “summer problem.” But here in Texas, where pools stay open long past Labor Day and families gather at lakes and rivers year-round, drowning is a tragedy that doesn’t follow a calendar. Even in the cooler months, children still find access to water—bathtubs, backyard pools, ponds, and hot tubs—and the risk never goes away.

📊 The devastating reality:

•Every year in the U.S., more than 4,000 people drown—that’s about 11 lives lost every single day.
•In Texas, an average of 352 drowning deaths occur each year.
•In 2023, 90 Texas children lost their lives to drowning. In 2024, that number rose to 103.
•As of mid-August 2025, 62 children have already drowned in our state.

These aren’t just numbers on a page. They are sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, grandbabies and best friends. Behind every statistic is a family whose world has been shattered forever.

💡 Why drowning is year-round in Texas:

•Pools, rivers, and lakes are always accessible.
•Drowning is silent and fast—it happens without splashing, screaming, or cries for help.
•Many drownings happen when a child wasn’t even supposed to be near water.
•Natural water sources carry hidden dangers year-round: strong currents, sudden drop-offs, and debris.

Drowning doesn’t take the fall or winter off. It doesn’t pause when school starts. It doesn’t wait for vacations. It can happen in any season, at any time, to any family.

That’s why we must remain vigilant—every single day of the year.
