Congratulations to our 8th grade team members graduating tonight from Piedmont Middle School: Carter Braswell, Tate Duncan, Levi Smith, Charley Stegall and Shelby Taylor. We are so proud of each one, and can't wait to see what they accomplish as they move on to high school!

So proud of all the competitors that have made it to the state competition! Be thinking of the Piedmont JR Team Freedom as they as they compete! We feel honored to be invited to compete with the top teams in North Carolina.

Big weekend ahead for outdoor youth sports in North Carolina.

The 2026 State Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament is bringing 61 teams and more than 500 student competitors together for the championship in Ellerbe, NC this Saturday.

These students have spent months fine-tuning their skills in shotgun, archery and rifle marksmanship and gaining wildlife conservation knowledge, and now they’re heading to the state stage.

We wish all of this year's competitors the best of luck!

Saturday, March 28th, the Piedmont JR Hunter Safety Team competed in the North Carolina Youth Hunter Education District 6 Tournament, comprised of Montgomery, Richmond, Moore, Anson, Stanly, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, and Union counties. The competition was held at the Lentz Hunter Education Center in Ellerbe, NC.

The team earned the following placements:
• Sporting Clays: 3rd Place
• Archery: 2nd Place
• Rifle: 3rd Place
• Overall: 3rd Place

We are so proud of each of our students, and the tremendous growth and determination they have shown this season!!

Today is District Competition for our students. This is the competition they work towards all season. We are already so proud of the tremendous growth, character and hard work that each student has demonstrated this season! If you have a minute, we’d be grateful if you’d pray for safety, steady hands and confident hearts for our students today. Let’s go Team Freedom!!!

Saturday, March 7th Piedmont Hunter Safety hosted the annual Tri-County Competition at Camp John J. Barnhardt. Over 150 high school and Jr high students competed. All of the teams demonstrated great skills and good sportsmanship. Thank you to everyone that helped make the 2026 Tri-County Competition such a great success.

We want to especially say great job to our Piedmont Jr Hunter Safety Teams for their efforts!

Piedmont Jr Team Freedom - Levi Smith, Tate Duncan, Kenly Carriker, Kaden Smith, Davis Dickerson - won 3rd Place Overall Team in Rifle Skills and won 3rd Place Team Overall in all skills.

Tate Duncan won 1st Place Individual in Archery!

It was a great day!

Saturday was the first competition of the 25-26 season for the Piedmont Junior Hunter Safety Team. We want to congratulate Tate Duncan for earning 1st Place Individual in Archery and 2nd Place Individual Overall.

Congratulations also to Team Freedom for earning 3rd Place Jr Rifle Team and 2nd Place Junior Hunter Safety Team.
