Sorry about the late post, we rolled in late Saturday night exhausted from driving home in really bad storms! Last weekend was a first time contest that benefited service veterans— always and forever a great cause🥰. The KOA campground was a great place to hold this event and all of the teams seemed to agree and have a good time. After a month in between contests, we were still happy with our four boxes that were turned in: here’s how we did!
Dessert: 1st place 🥇
Chicken: 23rd
Ribs: 4th 🤩
Pork: 11th 🤩
Brisket: 24th — actually really proud of this one despite the judge’s opinions
14th Overall out of 41 teams

We will put this one on our calendar for next year as well, y’all need to too! Next up is the Mike Gannon BBQ Championship in Columbiana, AL.

Sweetmeats travelled a short way to our favorite contest South Carolina Festival of Discovery in Greenwood, SC this weekend. As always forecasted, the steamy weather did not disappoint — including a major pop up storm during rib turn-in! We had a chicken wing and dessert ancillaries on Friday night, which was actually pretty calm and fun 🤩 We haven’t cooked since the end of May and Saturday’s cook was still steady despite the rain and humidity. Here’s the results:
Chicken 44th ☹️ - love those tables Springer Mountain Farms
Ribs 16th 👌🏻Korte Meats Competition Bbq
Pork 7th 🙌 Korte Meats Competition Bbq
Brisket 36th 🙄 we need an intervention
13th overall out of 75 tough teams!!
Super congratulations to Cody of Cocamoke Smoke on GC and Maya Jane BBQ Co Mark and Christina on their “going to Vegas!” RGC 🤪. Thank you Julie M. Wilkie and your crew for putting on another great contest, the music all weekend was fantastic and especially during awards — we will now dance for all of our stage calls 🤣!! Until next year, we love you all.

Whew!! Sweetmeats are home and done with our May contest challenge—5 competitions in 4 weeks with 2 in Georgia and 3 in Tennessee. We were blessed to land in the top 10 in 3 of the 5 🤩, saw beautiful mountains, rivers and shared endless laughter with some of the best cook teams in the country. Thank you Chris Finkbone for putting together a great contest Honeybee Festival - LaFayette, GA that kicks off summer for us every year! Thanks as always to Robert Vanderipe and Lex Vanegas for being the best KCBS reps out there. Here’s our results:
Chicken 3rd
Ribs 13th
Pork 2nd
Brisket 3rd. 4th place overall!

Well the KCBS World invitational BBQ is in our rearview mirror as we arrive home exhausted and rain-soaked from our doubleheader +1 weekend in Lebanon, TN. Sweetmeats took on the challenge to cook chicken 3 times as well as 2 full comps in 3 days…what were we thinking!😂 It was a blast seeing tons of bbq friends from GA and other states get calls to the stage — big shoutout to Kings BBQ on his Wells Cup GC Saturday 🏆🫶. We got a 13th place chicken call Springer Mountain Farms on Saturday and a 6th place perfect 180 chicken call Sunday! Congratulations to on GC on Sunday, and to everyone that had the opportunity to hear your name and walk the stage this weekend 🙌🥰

Sweetmeats rolled in last night for the KCBS World invitational BBQ contest in Lebanon, TN. Looks like we are going to be soggy for the Chicken Championship today but better skies tomorrow! Breakfast out with the early birds with our favorite waitress and taking dry dog walks while we can. Good luck to everyone 🤩🙌

Sweetmeats rolled in late last night from a great time in Sevierville, TN — awesome time off with bbq friends cooking at our campsites, going out to eat in Pigeon Forge and off course Micro Wrestling!! Bob Johanns and his group always do a great job organizing this event and the town floods the festival for 2 days straight. We had a solid cook and were pretty happy going into awards, here’s what happened:

Ribs-3rd place (finally!!)

Brisket-18th place Snake River Farms

We just want to give a HUGE shoutout to the Apalachee High School bbq team who just took RGC this weekend up in Acworth, GA!! The coaches and students have been working so hard to achieve this goal and asked for our guidance in chicken a few weeks back. Sweetmeats are so pumped that they cooked so well and grabbed that trophy with just 2 weeks left of school!! Way to go everyone 🏆🥰🙌🐓

Sweetmeats are back from our favorite contest close to home Boss Hog Cook-Off
This contest, by far, treats the cooks better than any place we go! The Waynesboro community comes out in full force and it’s so much fun to see. We were lucky enough to grab a 7th place chicken Springer Mountain Farms and 8th place pork Korte Meats Competition Bbq , landing us back in the top 10 at 7th place! Congratulations to Waylon Weatherford and Tammy on their Big Dawg GC and on RGC!
We’ll be turning this trailer around in 2 days to head up to Bloomin' BBQ Music & Food Festival in Sevierville, TN to have some chill time with friends beforehand. Thanks to all that support our bbq travels:
