Wow, what a week for the OTG Diamond Kings!

We kicked things off at the Biloxi Shuckers game, where the team had an absolute blast. More importantly, our players represented the organization with class, character, and respect. Watching the boys enjoy the experience together made for a great start to the week.

Then came the baseball.

On Thursday, we hit the field and got off to a slow start, but somewhere along the way that DAWG came out. The boys responded, battled adversity, and started playing like the champions they are. They refused to quit, competed with heart, and showed everyone exactly what OTG Diamond Kings baseball is all about.

We finished the four-day tournament in 3rd place, but the placement isn’t what I’ll remember most. What I’ll remember is watching a team get up off the mat, fight back, play with pride, and put other teams on notice.

That’s growth.
That’s toughness.
That’s character.

As a leader, I couldn’t be more proud of this group of young men, our coaches, and our families who continue to support them every step of the way.

The work isn’t finished, but we’re headed in the right direction.

Let’s congratulate and wish the very best to our very own Karlos “KJ” Austin. He is on his way to the 2026 All-American Games in Panama City, Florida, where he will proudly represent himself and the OTG Diamond Kings. KJ was nominated for his outstanding performance on the field and his exemplary record in the classroom. He currently holds a 3.5 GPA while maintaining A/B Honor Roll status.

Let’s continue to cheer him on as he reaches new heights!

Let’s welcome Coach Gage Havard and family to the OTG Diamond King Family….Coach took the time out to answer a few questions that’ll help us get to know him better….

What inspired you to start coaching youth baseball?

-My dad actually inspired me to be a coach he coached me till I made the school ball team and I’ve always looked forward to doing the same and when my son said he wanted to play I was all in!

What do you hope players learn from being part of your team besides baseball?

-I hope to teach and coach a group of boys to begin there journey to be a young man! Learn to respect and how to treat a loss same as a win and know how to come back!

What’s one fun fact or unique thing parents and players should know about you?

-That I’m a sucker for sour candy and that I coach wide open and at a fast pace!
