The Lakeland T-Birds fell on the road Monday in a GNC matchup in Eagle River, losing to the Eagles by a score of 5-0. Drew Warren (Jr.) got the start on the mound and went four innings, allowing just one hit, one run (unearned), walked just one and struck out nine before giving way to Tyrone Moore (Sr.). Opposite Warren was a standout performance from Pines RHP Aiden Minx who went the complete game (81 pitches), allowing just three hits, walking one and striking out 14 T-Bird hitters. Warren had a double at the plate while Jack Stella (Jr.) and Jeff Bolton (So.) each also recorded hits!

The team returns to their home field tomorrow to face Rhinelander. Both JV and Varsity are slotted for 5 p.m. starts with the JV team playing at the Minocqua 70 West Park Complex!

T-Birds travel to Medford tomorrow to take on the Raiders. JV game will be played at Jaycee Field with the Varsity contest at Raider Field. The Varsity game will be livestreamed thanks to Medford OnFocus ... Link attached!

T-Birds hit the road for opening night as they traveled to Merrill for both Varsity and Junior Varsity contests.

In the Varsity matchup, Merrill capitalized on four errors and three walks in the bottom of the third inning to turn what was a one-run game into an 8-0 lead.

T-Birds would threaten late, loading the bases in the sixth and getting a two-RBI double off the bat of Drew Warren to make it 8-3. That's how it would end as the inning stalled and Merrill took it's first Great Northern Conference win of the season.

Lakeland had hits from Warren, Gabe Karch and Justin Doud while Benny Gahler, Jack Stella and Cooper Jahn each scored a run apiece. Warren got the start and went two innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit, striking out three and walking two. Both Karch and Tyrone Moore each pitched also, neither allowing an earned run.

In the JV contest, the T-Birds would get an early lead but fall behind 3-1 going into the fifth. There they were able to get one back, but Merrill would capitalize in their half and made it 4-2 going into the sixth which is how it would end.

T-Birds pitched well, allowing only four hits over six innings, striking out eight and walking seven. Noah Peterson got the start and went 2.1 innings before giving way to Landyn Kropidlowski who pitched through the fourth. Tevin Wildcat finished up in the fifth and sixth.

The teams are back on the road Friday, taking on Medford at 5 p.m. JV will be played at Jaycee Park with the Varsity game set at Raider Field located next to the Medford Elementary School.

BIG WIN for the T-Birds tonight against a solid Medford team. Benny Gahler’s 7th inning walk-off BOMB highlighted a night of action which saw the two GNC rivals change leads four times over the course of seven innings. Lakeland improves to 4-3 in conference play as it travels to Tomahawk this Friday to face the Hatchets.

Drew Warren picked up the win going 5.2 innings and allowing just one earned run. He struck out 8 and walked 3. Max Keuer went the rest of the way, allowing just one earned run also, walking one and striking out 2.

Ashton Bremer, Merick Trotter and Ben Peterson all had multi-hit games with Peterson and Benny Gahler each driving in a pair.

A BIG THANKS to all the youth who came out tonight. The future of Lakeland Baseball looks bright!

T-Birds (3-2) hitting the road today to face Mosinee (4-1) in a key Great Northern Conference tilt. Mosinee has run-off four straight in league play while Lakeland is coming off a couple of road wins against Pines and Rhinelander.
