A few of us participated in- Hero Gravel, the 50 mile race/ride in Stillwater, MN. Put on by the Chilkoot Velo. At the Cook Fork 40 Gravel event in Wisconsin, Dan Naef was 3rd in the 45+(9th overall) for the 88 mile course. Good job Dan !

Getting caught up on some DL action !

8/1 - DAMN - a 240 mile ride/race across Minnesota starting at midnight- Andrew Shuros gave it a go, in his first attempt - tough gravel conditions - he survided - 19th overall -

8/2 - Mn Crit Series - 40+ Brady, Laszlo 1st and 2nd - Matt 4th -
1/2/3/ - Andrew Shuros, after completing the DAMN ride a couple days earlier, won in a thrilling battle with Peter Olejniczak ! Laszlo 10th

8/8 - 8/9 - BRADY PRENZLOW continued his top mid season form, with a couple outstanding Wins in Omaha ! Was 1st in the 50+ crit at Aksarben. The next day he won the 50+ Pavillion Crit. Then doubling up in the 40+, Brady was 3rd !
Derek Goerke also headed down to Omaha and was 15th in the rainy P/1/2 Aksarben crit ! A well earned $115. Andrew Shuros didnt have his best and had to bail out.

8/9 - Mn State Crit Championship - DL manage to sweep the podium for the small 50+ field. Laszlo, Matt and Brian Koeneman.
In the P/1/2/3, Matt was the leadout man for the last couple corners, enabling Laszlo to get a 3rd. Its tough to beat the younger Project Echelon guys.

Steve Marshall is in Leadville, getting ready for the 100 mile mountain bike race this weekend.

Fresh off his national championship a couple weekends ago, Joel LaFrance traveled cross country to Leadville, Co....for the Leadville Mountain Bike Stage Race. Steve Marshall joined him as well...as they are both in love with the pain and suffering Leadville brings -

Joel ended up 6th overall, 5th male, 1st in age group (40-49) !!
Steve was 37th overall and 7th in age. (50-59)

Back in Mn, it was the Mn State road Race championship near Afton, Mn. Shortened one lap for some categories, it was still a hot and humid grind. DL had 6 guys in the 40/50/60 combined field(scored separately) Charlie Zamastil, Brady Prenzlow, Laszlo Alberti, Derek Goerke, Jose Dundee and Matt Muyres.

Derek won the 40s in an impressive uphill power sprint. Jose won the 50s in similar fashion. All the guys had fun and contributed to the wins. DL swept the 50s podium !

Matt, a few days earlier, raced 3 Chicago Grit races - crit racing in the west suburbs of Chicago.

We had our MCF sunday crit series #5 in eden prairie - in the 3/4 & 40+ combined, DL managed to sweep the overall field. Brady, Derek and Laszlo. Jose and Matt were supporting players. Check back later when I post a link to Bradys gopro video -

In the 1/2/3/ field....Andrew Shuros powered to a Victory, in a explosive sprint over DL teammate Derek Goerke(2nd) and Karl Nygren(3rd). Andrew just the previous day, raced a 100 mile gravel event in ND. What a beast !

This past weekend, we had a few DL folks scattered about -

Starting with Joel LaFrance at the XCM - Marathon mountain bike nationals - Virginia - 40 mile course - 2nd place45-49 - Joel battled a crash and a broken handlebar - if its hard, Joel wil be there in th end no doubt !

Crit extraordinaire Andrew Shuros flew out to California for the Manhattan Beach GP crit - P12 category - was 10th in the Cat1 field, and I believe top 20 overall. Thats excelent. We missed him at our local sunday MCF crit -
Matt Muyres, Brady Prenzlow and Ben Schinke rode Gravel bike at the Freedhem Gravel in Little Falls - dry, hot and humid at the start - we chose the shorter length course - Matt ended up winning, Brady 3rd and Ben 4th - Eli Holm rode the 91 miler, and his grandpa rode the 46er - !

Our local crit series continued on a hot 90 sunday afternoon - Derek Goerke won the overall race(combined 3/4 and 40+), while Jose Dundee was active and provided support. Matt, Brady, Jose and Brian entered the 1/2/3 field. Fast and hot laps wore DL down a bit, but they fought until the end. Great workout however !

On June 27, a tough yet favorite MN mountain bike event was held in Lutsen, Mn. The Lutsen 99er - Donkey Label proudly produced 4 men in the top 20 for the 99 mile length. This event will turn your hair gray or your bald spot even balder. Its hard ! Good job to Joel LaFrance, Sean Cooley, Steve Marshall and Derek Goerke. 8th, 12th, 15th 18th. Steve won his age group.

2026 Masters Nationals - Wisconsin
A few strong Donkeys participated in the Tour of Americas Dairyland races and Masters Nationals. After having a blast racing with each other in the Toad crits, it was time to put it all on the line for Sundays crit in Wauwautosa. Matt Muyres, Brian Koeneman and Laszlo Alberti lined up in the 55-59 category. Matt attacked out the field mid way through, to form a 2 man break for 10 laps...he came up just a bit short in the final finishing straight. Laszlo marked the strong riders and placed 5th in a field sprint. Brian was happy with his result and was a perfect teammate. Brady Prenzlow and Jose Dundee lined up in the 50-54 group and had proud and respectable results(14th and 23rd). Its a hard race with an power hill and a technical descent.
Matt and Jose also lined up for the road race a few days later, also respective in their age groups. Matt missed the main break, but won the group sprint for 4th. Jose narrowly missed a podium by a few feet, netting a 6th. It was a hot and humid day !

Donkey Label coordinated their efforts at various Midwest locations this past weekend.

Starting in Wausau WI at the Basecamp Blender. This was a 2 day event, part of the WORS series. Gravel and MTB -
Joel LaFrance, Steve Marshall and Aaron Drevlow all did awesome both days. Joel, Steve Aaron(3rd, 4th, 8th overall - 75mi Gravel)
Family affair - Steves wife Sandy was 2nd in the 75 miler 30+

The Hotdish Gravel Weekend -Winona Mn- Saturday
100miler - Andrew Shuros 12th in the Open Category, Arik Holm 2nd in the 55+
60miler - Dan Naef and Matt Muyres - 4th an 5th overall.

DL Master roadie Laszlo Alberti flew to his hometown of Ottawa, CA, to race the legendary Preston Street Crit - Laszlo powered to a 14th in a rain soaked and stacked field. Chapeau !!

Abbey Melhus raced the WORS sport women category in Lacrosse on 5/24 - Great Job !

Our local Sunday MCF Crit series #4 resulted in a couple DL wins !
Brady Prenzlow won the 40+ category in a combined 40+ & 3/4 field. Matt(2nd) and Jake supporting cast. In the p123 race, Andrew illuminated the field with an impressive sprint for 1st. Matt, Brady and Brian did what they could to help Andrew, after doubling up. Andrew drove up from Winona that morning after racing the 60miler gravel race down there at the Hotdish.

Donkey Label found themselves racing knobby tires up north and skinnies just outside the metro area - this past weekend.
The Epic Bike Fest in Cable Wi....is a mountain bike/gravel double header weekend. Joel LaFrance, Sean Cooley and Aaron Drevlow raced both, and had solid places in the omnium. Joel was 6th overall in the gravel event(1st age) ! Great Job !!

Our weekday crit series has found a new home this year, Hennepin Tech college in Eden Prairie. They will be sundays late afternoon, throughout the summer. Laszlo won the 40+ points race, and Matt 3rd. Supporting crew from Brady Joe and Jake. In the 1/2/3 Andrew Shuros displayed dominant sprinting behavior, producing a top step. Supporting crew was Joe, Laszlo, Matt, Brian and Nate Halverson.

DonkeyLabel returns to Iowa !
A race weekend recap from Brady -
"This weekend, several Donkey Label Riders (Andrew Shuros, Brady Prenzlow, Tim Brandvold, Dan Barkeim, and Mark Duffin) headed to Des Moines to support Cross Chain Productions' three-day crit series, the Confluence Cup.

Friday's eliminator series in the Market District kicked things off. Andrew and Brady both placed third in their respective heats and advanced to the Men's Open Finals. Andrew secured fourth in the 20-minute evening final, while Brady came in 14th with the pack.

Saturday brought rain for the TBD Crit at Waterworks Park. Morning conditions were slick for the 50+ race, and the DLR riders were happy to ride safe -- Brady finished 8th and Tim 9th. The afternoon P12 race told a different story: Andrew took the win and Dan came in 11th.

Sunday's Iowa State Crit (Rip the Aves) closed out the weekend on a high note. Brady took the win in the 50+ and Andrew finished 5th in the P12.
Andrew also WON the Saturday Waterworks circuit race !!

Big thanks to Cross Chain Productions for keeping road racing alive in the Midwest.

A few weeks ago- there was a gravel race in Madison SD(5/24) - Arik Holm finished 9th overll in the 100 miler, and Christian Cairy won the 50 miler - Great Job !

At the Le Grand du Nord Gravel Classic in Grand Marais(5/23), John Holtan was 2nd in the 54 miler -
