Donkey Label coordinated their efforts at various Midwest locations this past weekend.

Starting in Wausau WI at the Basecamp Blender. This was a 2 day event, part of the WORS series. Gravel and MTB -
Joel LaFrance, Steve Marshall and Aaron Drevlow all did awesome both days. Joel, Steve Aaron(3rd, 4th, 8th overall - 75mi Gravel)
Family affair - Steves wife Sandy was 2nd in the 75 miler 30+

The Hotdish Gravel Weekend -Winona Mn- Saturday
100miler - Andrew Shuros 12th in the Open Category, Arik Holm 2nd in the 55+
60miler - Dan Naef and Matt Muyres - 4th an 5th overall.
Sunday 60 miler - Jose Joe Dundee 2nd, Andrew 7th in Open -

DL Master roadie Laszlo Alberti flew to his hometown of Ottawa, CA, to race the legendary Preston Street Crit - Laszlo powered to a 14th in a rain soaked and stacked field. Chapeau !!

Abbey Melhus raced the WORS sport women category in Lacrosse on 5/24 - Great Job !

Our local Sunday MCF Crit series #4 resulted in a couple DL wins !
Brady Prenzlow won the 40+ category in a combined 40+ & 3/4 field. Matt(2nd) and Jake supporting cast. In the p123 race, Andrew illuminated the field with an impressive sprint for 1st. Matt, Brady and Brian did what they could to help Andrew, after doubling up. Andrew drove up from Winona that morning after racing the 60miler gravel race down there at the Hotdish.

Donkey Label found themselves racing knobby tires up north and skinnies just outside the metro area - this past weekend.
The Epic Bike Fest in Cable Wi....is a mountain bike/gravel double header weekend. Joel LaFrance, Sean Cooley and Aaron Drevlow raced both, and had solid places in the omnium. Joel was 6th overall in the gravel event(1st age) ! Great Job !!

Our weekday crit series has found a new home this year, Hennepin Tech college in Eden Prairie. They will be sundays late afternoon, throughout the summer. Laszlo won the 40+ points race, and Matt 3rd. Supporting crew from Brady Joe and Jake. In the 1/2/3 Andrew Shuros displayed dominant sprinting behavior, producing a top step. Supporting crew was Joe, Laszlo, Matt, Brian and Nate Halverson.

DonkeyLabel returns to Iowa !
A race weekend recap from Brady -
"This weekend, several Donkey Label Riders (Andrew Shuros, Brady Prenzlow, Tim Brandvold, Dan Barkeim, and Mark Duffin) headed to Des Moines to support Cross Chain Productions' three-day crit series, the Confluence Cup.

Friday's eliminator series in the Market District kicked things off. Andrew and Brady both placed third in their respective heats and advanced to the Men's Open Finals. Andrew secured fourth in the 20-minute evening final, while Brady came in 14th with the pack.

Saturday brought rain for the TBD Crit at Waterworks Park. Morning conditions were slick for the 50+ race, and the DLR riders were happy to ride safe -- Brady finished 8th and Tim 9th. The afternoon P12 race told a different story: Andrew took the win and Dan came in 11th.

Sunday's Iowa State Crit (Rip the Aves) closed out the weekend on a high note. Brady took the win in the 50+ and Andrew finished 5th in the P12.
Andrew also WON the Saturday Waterworks circuit race !!

Big thanks to Cross Chain Productions for keeping road racing alive in the Midwest.

A few weeks ago- there was a gravel race in Madison SD(5/24) - Arik Holm finished 9th overll in the 100 miler, and Christian Cairy won the 50 miler - Great Job !

At the Le Grand du Nord Gravel Classic in Grand Marais(5/23), John Holtan was 2nd in the 54 miler -

Donkey Label had a fabulous time at the Quad Cities races this past weekend. We brought 4 truly inspiring individuals...Tim, Matt, Joseph, and Derek. Derek was our lone 40+ rider.
First day in Burlington, Joe and Matt went 1 and 2. Matt got 2 primes.

2nd day at Snake Alley, Joe won the 50s and Derek won the 40s. Matt 3rd 50s.

3rd day in Muscatine, Joe won the 50s and Matt 2nd. Derek won the 40s and Joe 2nd. Matt and Tim were the glue guys.

4th day in Davenport, Joe won the 50s and Derek 2nd the 40s, and Joe 3rd. Matt 5th in 50s.
Joe won all 4 50+ crits !!
Tim was our steady worker all weekend.
Quite a weekend.

We've had gravel on our mind. Going back a few weeks, a few of us participated in a free event on 4/25 - Earth Day Gravel Grinder in Northfield Mn.

The next day was another semi-local gravel race in Miesville. DL had half the guys in the final selection. But no official results or finish line for this event. (team pic below)

On 5/2 was Granny's Grabel in Princeton MN. On Chase Warks family farm was the start and finish.
Ben Schinke and Matt raced the 57 miler. Matt ended up 2nd and Ben 6th. In the long 108 miler, Joel LaFrance powered to a 2nd overall. Other DL riders were Andrew Shuros, Steve Marshall, Arik Holm Christian Betancourth. Great job !!

Across the border, DL master rider Dan Naef raced in the Bear 100 in Laona Wi. A 10th overall and 1st in age. Great job Dan ! 103 miles and 23 degrees at the start. Brrrrrrr!

Sunday evening was our first crit of the season, in our new bi- monthly series. New venue new day.
Andrew Shuros fought for a 2nd in the open men's. Jose Dundee 5th. Brady and Derek also joined in the fun. In the 40+ / 3/4 race, DL was organized near the end to give Brady a solid leadout, for a 2nd. Matt 3rd, Derek 2nd. A DL sweep. Solid team support from J

A few weeks ago, two humble DL riders participated in the TBC bike race. Tucson Bicycle Classic is a 4 stage omnium which tested early season form mark duffin and matt muyres. Both held their own and finished every stage. TT, RR crit and circuit. Matt ended 11th in GC and Mark was happy with his form and used TBC as training.

Matt is down in Tucson and challenged himself at the ASU Sun Devil crit in Superior Az this past weekend. With a grueling 5% hill for 500 meters, the race shredded guys every lap. Matt fell off the main group but held on for 4th in the 40+ and 2nd in the 50+ . A rare appearamce from Tom Danielson, who trains on Mt lemmon everyday, won the 40+ . Must be nice to be 135 pounds !! , Good job !

Gravel Nationals were held in LaCrescent Mn this past saturday. We were excited that it was close to home this time. This area of the state is called Driftless region, a period of time the glaciers formed the rugged bluffs.

DonkeyLabel had participant's scattered across many categories.
Our biggest team was in the 50-54 with 6 guys. 3 more in the same wave in the 55-59.

It began to rain at the start, but ended just before we got to Hokah, which was the first of 5 big climbs in the 74 mile route. At the top of the climb, the main group had already formed. Despite the 2nd group re-forming with them later, it split again, and this time for good. In that lead group was Aaron, Dan, John and Jose. In the 2nd group was Matt, Tim, Arik and Laszlo.

We were super stoked to have 2 riders on the Podium in the 50-54 - Jose Dundee 4th and John Holtan 5th -
Joel LaFrance, who road the 100 miler(45-49) was 6th. Awesome job !! Aaron and Arik also had kids in the Junior categories.

We want to thank Jay Woller for putting up with our shenanigans for a couple days - bottle handups, kitchen, parking etc - ! thanks !
