Join us for one of our favorite seasonal celebrations!

As evening falls, we’ll gather outdoors just outside downtown Minneapolis, with the city skyline as our backdrop. We’ll line the dance space with electric candles and lanterns, bring out a steaming cauldron, and fill the evening with dancing inspired by the season, Halloween, and Día de los Mu***os.

The Witches Dance returns!
We’ll reprise the spirited Wolfshager Hexenbrut witch dance. Never done it before? No problem! We’ll teach it step by step, and no dance experience is necessary.

We’ll also learn dances from Germany, Mexico, and beyond.

Costumes welcomed!
Come as a witch, or wear any Halloween costume you like.

Bring a broom!
A walking stick, ski pole, or similar prop will work too.
Bring a chair.

After the dancing, stick around for a while. We’ll have hot tea and snacks and enjoy some time to socialize.

Dress for the weather.
This is an outdoor event, so layers are recommended.

The event is FREE.

Please let us know if you plan to attend, so we have an idea of how many witches, dancers, and broomsticks to expect!

We look forward to celebrating the season and dancing with you!

Smiles, swirling skirts, clapping hands, arches, and a whole lot of energy filled the studio last week at Community Folk Dance Night.

We danced to Russian, Welsh, Turkish, and more - moving, laughing, and enjoying the wonderful variety of folk dance.

Another lively evening with a great group of dancers. Come join us next time!

We’re cancelling our regular dance session at The Center for Performing Arts on September 10 so we can join our friends, Orkestar Bez Ime, for their Courtyard Dance Party at University Lutheran Church of Hope in Southeast Minneapolis, from 7:00–8:30 p.m.

Come dance with us to these incredibly talented musicians!

And if you’re wondering whether you’ll know the dances, don’t worry. On Thursday, September 3, we’ll review some of the dances we do to live music so you’ll feel prepared to jump in and join us on September 10.

We’d love to see you there!

We drove to Red Wing last Saturday to see the Tamburitzans perform. A group of us went together to have lunch and enjoy a fabulous show.

As recreational folk dancers, we have a particular appreciation for the skill, energy, and dedication that goes into a performance like this. The Tamburitzans were fabulous, so talented and fun to watch!

It's always a treat to get out and experience another part of the folk dance world, and even better to do it with dancing friends.

Last Thursday, we danced for an hour.

We shared a meal.

We laughed over Quiz Bowl.

People rearranged schedules to be there.

No one seemed to be in a hurry to leave.

That's our Village.
