Welcome Coach Baird!!!
Over the summer, Louisa County Public Schools (LCPS) named Chris Baird as the new athletic director, succeeding former director Daniel Barrett.
Baird, a Buckingham County native, graduated from Buckingham County High School before returning to the school system as a physical health and education teacher.
He was then drawn to LCPS because of the overall excitement and strong leadership within the school division.
“[Louisa] is very competitive and leads the way being innovative in so many ways,” Baird stated. “You can really feel the excitement going on here. I just wanted to be a part of it and keep this thing going.”
In his new role, Baird will oversee the athletic departments at both Louisa County High School (LCHS) and Louisa County Middle School (LCMS), which together serve approximately 700 student-athletes. His responsibilities include scheduling and managing daily operations, coordinating logistics for all athletic events, and managing the Louisa County Athletics Department’s social media presence.
LCPS announced the news in early July, which was met with words of encouragement from former athletic director George Stanley.
“Congratulations! The support you have here in Louisa County is unmatched,” Stanley wrote. “Athletics is a vessel that brings people together, especially when it comes to the green and gold. This is a special place.”
