REGIONALS RECAP 🏆🔥❤️
What a weekend full of emotions, grit, heartbreak, pride, and memories these kids will never forget.
Friday, our Jr. Muleshoe team came out ABSOLUTELY swinging and left everything they had on that line. In their eyes, they finished with a score of “89,” and we’ll just leave it at that. Team Captain Caden Turner shot ANOTHER 25 straight — and not only do we have it on video, but everyone there witnessed it happen. Unfortunately, one target was counted as a miss, which left him with a score of “24” in their eyes, and he wasn’t allowed the chance to contest it. We fought for over an hour trying to make it right, but sometimes no matter how hard you fight, the outcome still doesn’t change.
As hard as that moment was, no one can take away what Caden accomplished. No one can erase the work, dedication, and talent that young man showed on that field. You could see the heartbreak written all over his face afterward, and as a coach and teammate, that hurts to watch. But what makes me proud is the way he carried himself through it all.
Caden still finished 3RD OVERALL in the South Region of the State of Arkansas out of 453 shooters — let that sink in. That is HUGE. That is something most shooters only dream of accomplishing, and we could not be prouder of him.
His squad — KJ Armstrong, Emzie Pilgreen, Izayiah Reed, and Javen Allen — showed up and fought hard every single round. Those guys and gal left everything they had out there, and I am beyond proud of every one of them. Together, they finished 29th out of 109 teams. That’s something to hold your heads high about.
Then came our Jr. Hornet squad — a group made up ENTIRELY of first-year shooters — and let me tell you, they came to COMPETE! Captained by Bryce Turner alongside Jesse Rather and Seth Shoumaker, these boys stepped onto one of the biggest stages they’ve seen so far and showed so much heart and determination.
They finished with a score of 54 and placed 70th out of 109 teams. No state advancement this year, but mark my words — these kids are building something special, and they are going to be a FORCE in the future. The experience they gained this weekend is priceless, and next year we’re coming back louder, stronger, and hungrier than ever. 💪🔥
Now onto today with our Sr. High teams.
Our Sr. Muleshoe squad faced some emotional challenges before they ever stepped onto the field. This team is normally captained by Kloie Megginson, but due to health concerns we had to make some last-minute changes. Even though she couldn’t physically be there competing with her team she watched them live and cheered them on, and every single one of those kids carried her with them today.
In Kloie’s honor, Ally Sayer stepped up and led the squad alongside Aiden Dillard, Jackson Billy, Johnny Sitzes, and Anthony Perez. And let me tell you something — they made Kloie PROUD.
They shot a score of 211 and finished 33rd out of 126 teams. Did it earn them a state ticket? No. But what they showed today mattered so much more than a placement. They showed heart. They showed teamwork. They showed what family looks like.
Because that’s exactly what this team is — FAMILY.
When one person hurts, they all hurt. When one person succeeds, they all celebrate. They picked each other up, supported one another, laughed together, and fought together all weekend long.
And we absolutely have to recognize Brittney Cooper for SHOWING OUT with an individual score of 36!! 👏🔥
Beyond the scores and placements, these kids made memories that will last forever. During downtime they laughed, played games, swam their hearts out, and just enjoyed being kids together. Those moments matter too.
This weekend may not have ended with every goal accomplished, but it ended with pride, growth, unforgettable memories, and a reminder of why we do this in the first place.
I couldn’t be more proud of every single shooter, parent, and supporter who stood beside us this weekend.
