I hear this statement all the time.
It's FALSE!!! ❌️
Moose have a tapetum lucidum which acts as a mirror behind the retina helping them see in the dark.
Their eyes are simply higher than most vehicle's beam of light and that's why we don't often see the eye shine.
As you can clearly see in this picture I took, moose eyes reflect light. 🫎

I see way more moose than deer guiding in the Millinocket area.
I always enjoy how elegant they are compared to moose, who I've actually seen slip and fall down before.
