ADHD: More Than Just Attention Problems 🧠

ADHD isn’t simply a lack of focus or willpower. Research suggests that genetics, neurotransmitters, sleep, gut health, inflammation, nutrient status, and lifestyle factors may all influence how symptoms show up.

While genes may load the gun, environment often pulls the trigger.

At Mt. Taylor Functional Medicine, we take a deeper look at the factors that may impact brain function, including:

✔️ Gut health
✔️ Nutrition & nutrient deficiencies
✔️ Sleep quality
✔️ Hormones & neurotransmitters
✔️ Inflammation & immune function
✔️ Metabolic health
✔️ Exercise & lifestyle habits

We test. We do not guess.

📍Now accepting new clients for functional medicine consultations, clinical nutrition counseling, and longevity-focused resistance training.

Available in person in Milan, NM and via telehealth in most U.S. states.

If you’ve been told everything looks “normal” but you still struggle with focus, energy, motivation, brain fog, or mood, it may be time to look deeper.

🌿🌼 Your environment matters more than most people realize.

The places we spend our time shape our mood, our mindset, our stress levels, and even our health. Functional medicine recognizes that health isn’t just about food and exercise—it’s also about the environment that surrounds us every day.

When I walk through my yard and see the bright flowers, the different shades of green, the blooming plants, and the life that surrounds them, it instantly brings me a sense of peace and happiness. Nature has a way of reminding us to slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect.

Research suggests that exposure to natural environments can help lower stress hormones, support nervous system regulation, improve mood, and even encourage healthier habits. It’s hard to stay stuck in negativity when you’re surrounded by growth, color, and life.

That’s why I believe creating a healthy life isn’t just about what’s on your plate or how much weight you lift. It’s also about building an environment that inspires you to show up as your best self.

Plant the flowers. Create the garden. Open the windows. Step outside. Surround yourself with things that make you smile.

Your environment is either draining your energy or fueling it. Choose wisely. 🌻🌿☀️💚

A Thank You to My Clients, Research Participants, and Every Person Who Refuses to Quit ❤️💪

Over the years, you’ve taught me more than any textbook ever could. 📚

You’ve taught me that a bone spur isn’t the end.
A surgery isn’t the end.
A diagnosis isn’t the end.

You’ve taught me that if one limb is in a cast, you still have three others that can move. You still have a core. You still have a heart. You still have a choice. ❤️

I’ve watched people show up with bone spurs, joint pain, nerve pain after shingles, diabetes, metabolic dysfunction, low muscle mass, digestive issues, and years of physical decline behind them—and they still show up. Not halfway. Not looking for excuses. They show up ready to work. 💪🔥

As a practitioner, I get a front-row seat to something incredible: watching ordinary people do extraordinary things. ✨

I love the people who believe that longevity is possible. 🧬
I love the people who refuse to accept that cognitive decline, muscle loss, frailty, and loss of independence are simply “part of aging.” 🚫
I love the people who understand that movement is medicine, muscle matters, and health is worth fighting for. 🏋️‍♀️❤️

The culture is changing, and I’m here for it. 🙌

Being older doesn’t mean becoming weak, slow, forgetful, or sitting in a recliner waiting for life to pass by. 🪑❌ It means continuing to learn, move, build, laugh, explore, lift, and live. 🌱🏔️🚶‍♀️💪

So thank you. ❤️

Thank you for showing up on the hard days.
Thank you for choosing resilience over excuses.
Thank you for proving that age is not a sentence. 🙏✨

Because the truth is, one day death will find all of us. Until then, let’s not sit around waiting for it.

Let’s live. 🔥💪🧬❤️

What does non-negotiable look like?

Today is Wednesday. I had my workout bag packed and sitting where it always sits. I got distracted on a phone call and left it behind.

So today, I worked out in my regular clothes.

Not because I wanted to. Not because it was comfortable. But because I made a promise to myself last year: exercise is non-negotiable.

Non-negotiable doesn’t mean perfect. It doesn’t mean you always have the right shoes, the right outfit, the right gym, or the right circumstances.

It means you do it anyway.

The old me would have used forgetting my bag as an excuse. The new me uses it as a reason to prove that my standards are stronger than my circumstances.

Today wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t ideal. But it got done.

And that’s what non-negotiable looks like. 💪🔥

🩸✨ Your veins are one of the most overlooked organs of longevity.

Every second of every day, your veins are working to return oxygen-depleted blood, nutrients, hormones, immune cells, and waste products back to your ❤️ heart and 🫁 lungs for recycling and renewal.

Healthy veins are strong, flexible, and efficient. They rely on movement 🚶‍♀️, muscle contractions 💪, hydration 💧, and proper nutrition 🥩🥚 to keep blood flowing.

When you eat a protein-forward diet, your digestive system breaks proteins down into amino acids—the building blocks 🧱 used to repair and maintain tissues throughout the body, including blood vessels. Your body also uses these nutrients to create enzymes, hormones, transport proteins, and the structural proteins that help support healthy vessel walls.

Resistance training 🏋️‍♀️ plays a huge role too. Every time your muscles contract, they act like a second pump, helping push blood through your veins and back to your heart ❤️. That’s one reason people with more muscle often have better circulation 🔄 and more visible veins.

Strong muscles 💪. Healthy blood vessels 🩸. Efficient circulation ❤️.

Your body is built from what you eat 🍳🥩 and strengthened by how you move 🚶‍♀️🏋️‍♀️.

🥩 Eat protein.
🚶‍♀️ Move often.
💧 Stay hydrated.
🩸 Support your circulation.
💪 Build muscle.
✨ Build a body that works for you.

Because healthy aging isn’t about taking up less space—it’s about building a stronger, more capable body for t

I want to be decades ahead. 🔥of my age👵

Im just now practicing 24 inch, for me that's tall!! 🎯

🦴 Jumping isn’t just cardio—it’s a signal to build stronger bones.

This box is 24 inches (2 feet) tall, and every jump creates a brief mechanical load through my feet, ankles, legs, and hips. Contrary to popular belief, healthy exercise doesn’t “rip” bones apart, but it does create tiny microscopic strains within bone tissue.

Those strains activate specialized bone cells called osteocytes, which signal osteoblasts—the bone-building cells—to lay down new bone mineral. Over time, your body adapts by making the skeleton stronger, denser, and more resilient.

The bonus? Jump training also improves coordination, balance, power, and breathing control. Your body doesn’t get stronger by avoiding stress—it gets stronger by adapting to it.

🏃‍♀️ Jump.
🦴 Build.
💪 Adapt.
✨ Repeat

As always, jumping exercises should be appropriate for your fitness level and any orthopedic conditions you may have.

🥩💪 A Protein Shake I Actually Use (And No, I’m Not Paid to Say This)

📢 Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this company. I do not receive commissions, kickbacks, free products, sponsorships, or compensation of any kind. I simply get asked frequently what protein powder I use, and after more than 20 years of trying different products, this one stands out.

🦷 Most of the time, I prefer to CHEW my food. Digestion begins in the mouth. Mastication stimulates saliva production, activates digestive enzymes, and signals the digestive tract to prepare for nutrient absorption. Whole foods remain my first choice whenever possible.

🥩🍳 That said, 2–3 times per month, when I need a quick option, I will use a protein shake.

What caught my attention about this particular shake is its ingredient profile:

✅ Grass-fed beef protein
✅ Grass-fed whey protein
✅ Egg protein
✅ Beef liver
✅ Beef kidney
✅ Beef heart

🔬 From a nutrient-density perspective, it is one of the most complete protein products I have personally found. It provides a diverse amino acid profile while also incorporating organ meats, which naturally contain vitamins, minerals, peptides, and cofactors that many people no longer consume regularly.

📚 As someone who reads ingredient labels for a living, I can tell you there are a lot of protein powders on the market filled with artificial sweeteners, fillers, gums, dyes, and ingredients that contribute very little nutritional value.

🌱 Is it for everyone? No.

If you follow a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, this likely won’t be your first choice. However, for those seeking a nutrient-dense, animal-based protein option, it may be worth exploring.

🍽️ My recommendation remains the same as it has always been:

🥩 Food first.
🦷 Chew your meals.
💪 Build muscle.
🔥 Support metabolic health.
🏃 Stay active.
🧠 Fuel your body with quality nutrition.

The shake is simply a tool—not the foundation.

There are thousands of protein powders on the market. Very few would make it into my kitchen.

🥩💪 This one did.
