Today was about more than football. 💚🐾
When I became President of Hillcrest Youth Football, I knew we were the underdogs.
We were a program people weren’t sure could come back. We had numbers to rebuild, trust to earn, teams to fill, volunteers to find, money to raise, and a whole lot to prove.
And this year has tested me in ways I never expected.
There have been hard decisions. Mistakes. Late nights. Stress. Tears. People who believed in what we were building and people who didn’t. There were moments I questioned myself and moments when it would have been a whole lot easier to walk away.
But then there are days like today.
Today I looked around at the Big Dawg Classic and saw kids on that field wearing HILLCREST across their chests. I saw coaches giving their time. Parents showing up. Volunteers working. Families cheering. I saw a program that is still here.
And I realized something…
Being the underdog isn’t something to be ashamed of. It’s who we are.
We might not be the biggest program.
We might not have everything figured out.
We might get knocked down.
But this pack keeps getting back up.
I am incredibly proud of how far Hillcrest has come, and I’m proud to be the President of this program, even on the days when that title feels heavier than I ever imagined it would.
We still have work to do. We still have things to learn. And our story is nowhere near finished.
So if they want to call us the underdogs…
Good.
Because you should never underestimate an underdog with something to prove. 🐾💚

WE ARE THE PACK.
AND WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED.
