The Texas Tomcats finished their season as champions tonight playing the semi-final and championship games in the WYBA end of season tournament.

In the semi-final game they defeated the Ellis County prospects 12-11 coming from behind to win in the bottom of the 5th inning. It was an exciting game and both teams battled for the victory. Congratulations to the Prospects on a great season.

The Tomcats advanced to the championship to face the Midlothian Naturals carrying the momentum from the semi-final win. They quickly jumped on top of the Naturals scoring 10 runs in the first two innings and shutting down the Naturals offense. As the game went on the Naturals made an effort to challenge the Tomcats but the 7u boys stepped up their defensive effort and made some awesome plays. In the end they held the Naturals to 3 runs and scored 12 to win. Congratulations to the Naturals on a great season. It was great to see the two Midlothian teams representing in the championship game.

The Tomcats finished their season with 8 wins 1 tie and 1 loss. They started the season playing up an age group with the intention of getting better. They got good enough to win the 8u coach pitch leauge and finished with a first place trophy. Each member of the team contributed tonight in their own way. They were all MVP's and deserve a congratulations.

After losing an uncharacteristic game to the Dodgers last week the Tomcats fell to 2nd place in WYBA 8u coach pitch. To maintain 2nd place and keep the second seed in the end of season tournament they faced their would be replacement for the spot Waxahachie Pirates. The opposition was sincere in their effort and had the Tomcats down 11-9 going into the bottom of the 5th inning with time expired. The Tomcats scored 3 runs to win the game 12-11. Offensive highlights include a clutch last pitch double by Michael Gray in the bottom of the 5th, an extra base hit by Seth Jackson helping to score 3 runs in the 4th and a huge double hit by Zaine Reed in the 1st inning with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd keeping the inning alive and sparking a rally that ended with 6 runs scored. Defensive players of the game include Billy Teague at left center, Landon Carpenter at right center and Gavin Garcia playing short stop.

The Texas Tomcats finished 3rd in the first annual Midlothian Elite Baseball Tournament. The Tomcats were one of the two 7u teams in the 8 team contest. Luck of the draw had us facing the tournament favorite Palmer Bulldogs in our first pool game on Saturday. The Tomcats were woke up with a 14-3 loss. The score does not reflect the level of play as they held the Bulldogs to 7 runs in 5 innings before giving up 7 runs in the 6th. Our second pool game had us matched up against the 7u Kennedale Wildcat Elite. We looked forward to playing the Wildcats and expected a good game. We played 6 innings and bounced back with a 13-7 victory.

Giving up 21 runs in pool play left us with a tough bracket on Sunday and the 4th seed. Our first game Sunday was against the hard hitting Waxahachie Tomahawks. It was a great game but the Tomcats prevailed with enough hits and defense to win 21-13. As we advanced to the semi-final we once again had to play the heavy weight Palmer Bulldogs. The Tomcats battled to match the explosive hits from the Palmer team. As time expired and the dust settled we were down 20-16. The Tomcats fought for one hour and twenty minutes and left it all on the field. They showed unbelievable fight, character and will to win. I could not have been more proud of our boys as they walked off the field full of dust, sweat and vigor from the close game. Their hearts were exposed and they wanted to keep playing.

Congratulations to the Palmer Bulldogs as they went on to win the championship 18-3 against the Midlothian Naturals.

I could name most every player as a stand out this weekend. They each had their moments of glory followed by a smile that makes the job worthwhile.

The Texas Tomcats remain undefeated in WYBA 8u coach pitch. Winning their last two games against the Angels and Maypearl Panthers. Both games finished with the score 18-0.

The competition will definitely pick up as they play in the first annual Midlothian Elite Baseball Tournament this Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be held at Community Center Park in Cedar Hill TX.

The Texas Tomcats picked up another win tonight against the 8u Midlothian Naturals. It was a close game with several lead changes in the first 4 innings. The Tomcats scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th to go ahead 8-5. The Naturals fought back and put up 3 runs with 2 outs in the top of the 6th to tie the game 8-8. Tate Elliot lead off the bottom of the 6th with a monster triple. Noah Romney had a clutch at-bat putting the ball in play on the 6th pitch offered. Tate slid into home to seal the deal. The defensive effort by both teams was exciting to watch all night.

I couldn't help but be a little apprehensive with our 7u team opening their summer season playing in 8u WYBA coach pitch. In our first game we faced the established organization 8u Ellis County Prospects. After our 10 day break our defense came out a little rusty. Though we had a few errors enough plays were made to hold the Prospects to 3 runs in 3 innings before coming alive in the bottom of the 4th scoring 6 runs. However, the highlight of the night was the Tomcat offense. Putting up 16 runs was the difference maker tonight. Extra base hits were provided by Noah Romney, Colton Turner, Tate Elliot, Gavin Garcia and Gavin Railsback. As a whole our team had excellent at-bats tonight averaging a .732 on base percentage. A special thanks to Ashley Teague for keeping the books required for statistics. The Tomcats face the Midlothian 8u Naturals Friday and we are expecting another good game. Congratulations on a great opener to all the players and parents.

The Texas Tomcats finished 3rd of 11 in the IBT Tournament of Champions June 28th and 29th. A rough start Saturday gave them the 11th seed and a tough schedule for Sunday. We started our day playing the 6th seeded Smash team out of Corsicana. After a close game against the Smash we advanced to play the 3rd seeded Waxahachie Raiders. Our bats got hot in the game allowing us to defeat the Raiders 15-4 and we advanced to the semi-final to face the Burleson Thunder. After an early lead against the Thunder we faced the reality of 5 games in the Texas heat in 2 days. The boys were done. The Thunder got hot in the last inning and as time expired they took the victory. Overall it was a great weekend. They played a lot of baseball, made some great plays and had some big hits. Defensive leaders were Colton Turner, Jayden Blackmon and Billy Teague. Offensive performance was catalyzed by Gavin Garcia, Tate Elliot and Noah Romney.

Six Tomcats were selected to play in the WYBA All Star game. Two teams were assembled to play combining players from The Tomcats, Crew, Diamond Backs and White Sox. The head coaches of the first and second place teams were given the honor of coaching the competing teams and keeping their players. The Tomcats remained together with their coaching staff and had a great game. The talent on the field was fun to watch. Great plays were made by both teams. In the end, the Tomcats and joining players came out ahead in a decisive 9-2 victory.
