Well I’ll be… this little feeder at the cottage at Goose Creek started out as a practical move—nyjer (thistle) seed to keep the wasps in check.

Next thing you know, I’ve got a front-row seat to something downright beautiful.

Goldfinches lighting up the place like little flashes of sunshine… and a cardinal who clearly thinks he runs the show—feisty, proud, and not backing down from anyone.

Didn’t peg myself as a birdwatcher, but here we are. And I’m not mad about it one bit.

Sometimes the smallest changes bring the best kind of surprise.

Somewhere between “I don’t need this” and “I absolutely must have it”… there they were.

I was sitting in my office yesterday, trying to be productive, when I looked across the street and caught sight of them—two massive stone horse heads, just quietly existing like they belonged in a countryside estate outside London. Turns out… they are from London. Hand-carved, solid stone, about 200 pounds each, and full of that old-world character you just can’t replicate.

I have no idea where they’re going. No clue how I’ll use them. Zero plan.

But I do know this—they’re coming to

So the next time you visit, you’ll find them there… holding court in a temporary spot while I figure out where they truly belong. And honestly, that might be half the fun—letting something this special find its place over time.

Some things just speak to you. And when they do… you don’t ask too many questions.

🚨 Neighborhood Alert: Black bear headed southbound… straight toward my backyard! 🐻

The neighbors gave me the heads-up that Mr. Bear might be dropping by tonight, probably thinking I’m hosting a Fourth of July barbecue. Sorry, big guy — no burgers or sparklers over here! Just me and a whole lot of “please stay on your side of the fence.” 😅
