a little update on where i’m actually at right now…
these pictures were taken exactly 2 weeks ago at my last tournament. during one of my matches that week, i fell and injured my ankle… and i’ve been in a boot ever since 🙃
the timing is almost funny because literally right before this happened, i turned 34 and made the decision that i was going ALL IN on this comeback. no excuses, no wondering “what if.” i wanted to give myself everything i had and see how far i could take this.
and then… injury 😂
if there’s one thing this comeback keeps teaching me, it’s that absolutely nothing is going to happen exactly how i planned it.
over the last 2 years i’ve won tournaments, had some of the best moments of my comeback, dealt with injuries, traveled all over the world chasing points, spent more time away from my boys than i ever wanted to, questioned myself more times than i can count, and worked my way back into the top 500… only to find myself back around 700 now.
obviously that’s not where i want to be. and at 34, i’m very aware that time isn’t exactly on my side 😂
but weirdly, i feel more sure about what i’m doing now than i did when my ranking was higher.
i wanted to share these pictures because i think they’re a pretty good reminder of what “going for it” actually looks like.
sometimes it looks like winning. sometimes it looks like flying around the world chasing points. sometimes it looks like getting opportunities i never imagined this comeback would bring me.
and sometimes it looks like sitting at home in a boot wondering when you can hit a tennis ball again 😂
so no, going all in at 34 didn’t exactly start the way i imagined.
34. ranked #693. two weeks in a boot. and still all in.
we’ll see where this goes 🎾🤍
