On behalf of Merryville Softball and myself, I would like to congratulate the Merryville Lady Panther girls’ basketball team on an incredible accomplishment -bringing home the Division IV State Championship! They represented Merryville High school and community with pride today. If you were there in person or watched online then you know what they did today was definitely not easy! Our softball program is proud of you and grateful for the example you’ve set for all athletes in our school going forward. Congratulations on an unforgettable season and a well-earned State Title!

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers Falls To Iota

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers lost to Iota 6-3 on Tuesday.

Iota were the first to get on the board in the first when Saige Cherry homered to right field, scoring two runs.

Iota added one run in the second after Aubrey Douget grounded out.

An error extended the Iota lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Brooklyn Steward started the game for Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers. The left-handed pitcher gave up eight hits and six runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking two.

Piper Robberson and Steward were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers. Steward went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers in hits.

Cherry led Iota with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Ainsley Lacombe set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Iota with two hits in four at bats.

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers Triumph Over Jennings

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers were victorious against Jennings 6-2 on Tuesday.

Jennings opened the scoring in the first after Emma Venable singled, scoring one run.

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Kyleigh Spillers tripled to center field, and Piper Robberson doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Taylee Cooper doubled to center field, Camille Davis grounded out, Brynn Beard doubled to center field, and Spillers singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Brooklyn Steward earned the win for Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers. The left-handed pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Molly Person started in the circle for Jennings. The hurler gave up eight hits and six runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking one.

Spillers provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers turned one double play in the game.

Pearl Whitman and Venable each collected two hits for Jennings. Sarah Crochet and Venable each drove in one run for Jennings. Jennings turned one double play in the game.

Brooklyn Steward Leads Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers Past DeRidder

Brooklyn Steward struck out 10 batters as the starting pitcher led Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers past DeRidder 5-0 on Thursday. Steward allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking three.

Brynn Beard collected four hits in four at bats in the win. Beard tripled in the seventh inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers got on the board in the top of the fourth inning after Kyleigh Spillers singled down the right field line, Piper Robberson grounded out, and Lainee Doyle grounded out, each scoring one run.

Laila Roberson took the loss for DeRidder. The starter went seven innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out eight and walking three.

Spillers collected two hits for Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers in four at bats. Spillers stole two bases. Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Beard made the most plays with 11.

Jayden Wisby, Haleigh Cooley, and Demi Burks each collected one hit for DeRidder.

Merryville Varsity Lady Panthers welcome Negreet on Friday for their next game.
