I don't often vent about my job.

Because let's be honest...
it's a dream to be dancing for a
living and sharing what love
with the next generations.

But I'm human.
And something's,
unintentionally, hurt.

I pour so much into my systems,
my process, I educate myself to
keep my teaching top notch, and
learn the strengths and
weaknesses of dancers.

I learn what makes them smile,
what makes them roll their eyes,
what style of dance they love
and the ones they hate.

I spend hours researching
how to correct their muscle
imbalances so they can
get that firebird or those
ala secondés.

I plan around their schedules
so they can fulfill all the facets
of their personality
with other arts,
sports, and especially
their academics.

I think about them
because I know they
are headed
to a doctor's
appointment,
they have a test,
or they
are having a
hard time at home.

So if a dancer
decides to move
studios I understand
things change...
some dancers need
more. And some
need less. I am
not perfect nor am I for
everyone.

But it doesn't
change
the fact
that it leaves a
giant hole
in my class and more
importantly in my heart.

When we leave the
studio, they don't
leave my mind.

Have a
respectful
conversation
and be
accountable.

Because teachers invest more
than just time.
We invest our whole being—
