Growth & Grit Health and Wellness Coaching

Growth & Grit Health and Wellness Coaching Board-certified Health & Wellness Coach, Nurse Practitioner & Yoga Teacher. I've been vegetarian for over 15 years.

I help women reconnect with their health through sustainable habits, mindful movement, and compassionate support—because taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential! I channel my passion for health and wellness and my love for animals through my diet and lifestyle. I'm a vegan home cook and enjoy plant-based cooking and baking. I started practicing yoga over 20 years ago and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2012. I a little obsessed with my rescue dogs Fiona and Ruby and my cat, Phoebe. I enjoy walking my dogs, lifting weights, and practicing and teaching yoga. I love travel, live music, dancing, hiking, and snuggling on the couch with my dogs and husband watching Schitt's Creek and The Great British Baking Show.

Such a fun and engaging afternoon at the Oaklyn Senior Center!
We talked about fall prevention, strength, balance, stability, and moving safely. Most importantly, participants left with practical, actionable ways to build strength and stability, recognize their own risk factors for falling, and take steps to reduce those risks.
I loved presenting **Stepping Out Strong** on behalf of Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation— and especially seeing everyone so engaged in the conversation and activities! 💜

Same 10 minutes. Nothing about your schedule has changed. But the way you think about what “counts” can completely change the choices you see. If exercise has to be 30 minutes or a full workout, 10 minutes can feel like not enough time. But if 10 minutes counts? Suddenly there are possibilities. This is one of the ideas we’ll explore in Rethink Exercise. Because sometimes becoming more physically active starts with questioning some of the rules we’ve been carrying around about exercise. 💜 11 days. $11. Starts October 4.

Apparently, my house is a gym now. My stairs? Calf raises. My kitchen counter? Balance practice & stretches. My desk chair? Yoga prop. Waiting for the coffee? A few squats. No membership required. Once you stop thinking of exercise as something that only happens during a “workout,” you start seeing possibilities everywhere. 😄. Tired of stopping and starting exercise? **I’m not a routine person. Who’s with me?** I don’t spend my time and energy trying to “make” myself stick to a routine anymore. It’s just not how I operate. My mood changes, my energy changes, and what I feel like doing changes. What my body needs changes, too. Instead of beating myself up about that, I’ve gotten much more interested in learning how to **work with those fluctuations rather than fight them.**
And in this 50-something year old body, paying attention to my health feels more important than ever (without becoming obsessive about it). That includes paying attention to how I’m eating, sleeping, and how much and what kind of physical activity I’m getting. For me, consistency doesn’t have to mean doing the same thing every day or following the same routine every week. **It means staying engaged with my health while adapting to the body and the life I have today.** Maybe that’s another way to **Rethink Exercise.**💜Curious about this $11 offer? check it out: https://www.growthandgrithealth.com/stay-active-when-life-gets-in-the-way

25 years later, we remember. We honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and all those who responded and served in the days and years that followed. May we never forget. 🇺🇸🩵

I’ve been thinking about my own patterns when it comes to staying active. I like being active. It matters to me. And yet, I don’t always find it easy to stick to a routine or be as consistent as I’d like. So I’ve been paying more attention, not just to whether I exercise, but to what happens when I don’t. What throws me off? What helps me get back to it? What do I tell myself when the plan falls apart? We all develop patterns and habits around physical activity/exercise, and I think there’s something useful about simply becoming aware of them. Not judging them. I came up with these five and I’m curious: **which one sounds most like you?** I can definitely see myself in more than one. I'd love for you to share in the comments! 😀
