I’ve seen gyms open & close, new life chapters, & crumbling goals. Early morning doubts & questions, in the mirror, in traffic, in dark empty parking lots. To me, I’ve started over more times than I can remember. And I still show up, smiling.

You don’t know how happy this stuff makes me. Or maybe you do. Before I was the β€œheadband guy” I was just a guy who loved taking workouts to the extreme. I had a lot of insecurities, and that was one of my preferred ways of dealing with them at the time. Progress isn’t always perfect. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s barely noticeable. At times it might not even make sense. How can I do all the things I need to do, having only 24 hours in a day? I’m telling you it’s enough. Start where your feet are. You don’t need the perfect plan, the perfect body, the perfect conditions. You just need to start where you are. One step, one rep, one choice at a time. This isn’t about inspiring anyone else. It’s about survival. It’s about showing up for yourself, even when the worldβ€”or your own mindβ€”says you can’t or shouldn’t. One day or day one? Make it both. And tomorrow, and again. That’s how regular people like us winβ€”not by being perfect, but being relentless.

I’m planning a solo, self-supported run from Mechanicsburg to Lancaster. No crew, no aid stationsβ€”just me, what I can carry, and whatever the day throws at me.

Truth is, it feels a little bigger than me. And that’s exactly the point. As a coach, I believe your goals should make you a little nervous, a little unsure, maybe even question if you’re ready for them. That’s where the REAL growth happens. Not when it’s comfortable, but when you step into something you haven’t quite figured out yet. You’ll never feel ready. Start where you are. Figure it out as you go.

So this is me holding myself to that same standard. More to come.

Not all snacks affect blood sugar the same wayβ€”and when you eat them matters more than most people realize.

Research shows a small protein-based snack before lunch can reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes, while fruit only helps when eaten right before a meal. High-fat snacks didn’t provide the same benefit. That’s the part that really surprised me.
