Sutton is getting close to being a . For those of you that have followed my page for a while, know that my son and I are avid duck hunters. I have not been in the marsh hunting for a couple years now, life’s been busy, I didn’t have a dog for a few years. But I got Sutton 2 years ago. This is my 4th Lab. I learned a lot over the years about training a dog for duck hunting. I have taken it very slow with Sutton. He turned 2 in September and has not hunted yet. My first goal with Sutton was to bond with him, as all of you know he is in the bat cave everyday with me. My 2nd goal was obedience. I was never worried about the actual teaching of retrieving, Labs are born to retrieve. It’s instinct with them. So after 2 years of my first 2 training goals being accomplished Sutton and I started the retrieving part, and let me tell you he LOVES to retrieve, he lives for it. So with that said, this year’s hunting season will be Suttons first, I can’t wait to share with you all his journey into the duck hunting world. Sutton has some real good genes, his mom Scioscia is my son’s dog, and if Sutton can live up to his mom’s ability we are going to have some epic times in the duck blind.
