Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind event! The Tanker Trot offers a rare opportunity for both on-base and off-base participants to run alongside Airmen and their families—right next to the flight line! Whether you run, walk, or push a stroller, everyone is welcome to join the fun.

Choose the 5K or 10K course and enjoy a unique military setting, great camaraderie, and a fun challenge. This is your chance to be part of something special—a run that brings the community and the Air Force together for one unforgettable day!

Picking up where we left off:

The second training principle we discuss today is overload. Overload means that training must be significantly stimulating to drive adaptation. If we are never pushing ourselves beyond our comfortable limits, we will not see changes like those who do push themselves in their training, or eventually not at all.

Why is this? Our bodies adapt in order to maintain homeostasis when stimuli are introduced (adaptive resistance). We must therefore push through our thresholds in order to continue to adapt. As we push, our body adapts and the threshold increases, so we continue to push and adapt in this revolving cycle.

What can this look like? Doing more volume in the weight room. Lifting heavier. Running longer, or at faster times.

How often? This doesn’t have to be every single run or lifting session, but it must be a consistent 1 or more times a week, per item we would like to get good at. In other words, the trend of our training must be upward. The overload principle simply means we have to make our training harder over time in order to see results.
