You didn’t just miss a football game.
You missed GROWTH.
Last year, UCHS lost to Grainger 7–49 AND TONIGHT THEY WON 37-36
Tonight, they walked onto that field as a completely different football team and took home the win!
I really wish you had been there tonight.
Because if you were sitting in those stands, or by the fence you would have seen it.
You would have seen the fight.
You would have seen the determination.
You would have seen these boys believe in each other when things got tough.
You would have seen them pick each other up.
You would have seen a team that REFUSED TO QUIT.
Most importantly, you would have seen something I haven’t seen in a while…
That kind of growth doesn’t always show up in a stat sheet.
Sometimes growth looks like getting knocked down and getting back up.
Sometimes it looks like believing when people have already counted you out.
Sometimes it looks like looking across that field at a team that beat you 49–7 last year and saying, “NOT TONIGHT.”
And tonight, our boys proved that they are NOT the same team they were last year.
So if you weren’t there tonight, I’m sorry.
YOU MISSED IT.
You missed watching these boys turn the page.
You missed watching them fight for each other.
You missed watching them earn that win.
And honestly, you missed one hell of a reminder that THESE BOYS DESERVE TO BE BELIEVED IN.
So I’m going to keep saying it until people hear me:
COME SUPPORT THIS TEAM!!!
To every player who stepped on that field tonight
I AM SO DAMN PROUD OF YOU!
Not because you won
But because you FOUGHT
And then you finished the job
THIS IS A DIFFERENT TEAM.
THIS IS A DIFFERENT YEAR.
AND THESE BOYS ARE JUST GETTING STARTED!
