Over the weekend, the DeJohn family suffered a house fire. While we are incredibly grateful that everyone is okay and the house is still standing (showcasing that true Mayfield Hockey toughness!), the damage is extensive.

Senior Captain, JD Sega was recently selected as 1 of 5 recipients of the Cleveland Hockey Booster Club!

“I am truly honored to be one of the five recipients of this scholarship. This recognition means so much to me, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity it represents. First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me and giving me the strength and perseverance to get to this point.

I also want to thank my parents, Katie and Matt, for their constant support, sacrifices, and belief in me throughout my journey. None of this would be possible without you. To my brothers, Casey and Max, thank you for always pushing me, competing with me, and being there every step of the way.

I’m extremely grateful for my coaches—Jacob, Ethan, Jake—and especially Coach Steve Bogas. Coach Bogas fought tirelessly to keep our program alive, even during the toughest times, and his dedication and passion made a lasting impact on all of us. I’m thankful to have been a part of what he built.

I’m excited to continue my academic and athletic journey at John Carroll University, where I plan to study exercise science and hopefully continue my hockey career as well. This scholarship is not just an honor—it’s motivation for me to keep working hard and making everyone who has been on this journey proud. Thank you”

Today we honor another winner of our 2026 Cleveland Hockey Booster Club scholarships! Our 3rd place winner, taking home a $3,200 award is Joseph "JD" Sega from Mayfield City Schools / Mayfield Hockey !!! Congratulations JD!!!

What a season. What a legacy. What a team.

The 2025-26 Wildcats gave Mayfield Hockey a season to remember.
20 wins. A District Finals appearance. Brother James Memorial Tournament Champions. And a record book that got completely rewritten.

JD Sega closed out an unforgettable career as Mayfield’s all-time leading scorer with 190 career goals and 287 career points, while putting up a jaw-dropping 102 points this season alone.

Owen DeJohn was an absolute wall in net, finishing with 1,075 saves this season and 1,873 career saves to date. He's only a Sophomore by the way!

This team earned the program’s first 20-win season since 2012-13 and made its first District Finals appearance, proving that Mayfield Hockey is back in a big way.

Records were broken. History was made. And this group left its mark forever.

Thank you, Wildcats, for a season full of grit, heart, and unforgettable moments.
The standard has been raised. The legacy is real.

Mayfield is LOADED with league hardware this year. 🟢⚫️🐾

The Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Honors are officially out, and these Wildcats were recognized this past Saturday in a pregame ceremony before the Baron Cup Finals — a pretty special moment on a big stage:

⭐️ 1st Team All-League: JD Sega + Owen DeJohn
🔥 2nd Team All-League: Casey Sega
💪 Honorable Mention: Zander Anderson

And the numbers behind the honors are unreal:

🏒 JD Sega posted a record-breaking 56 goals with 39 assists for 95 total points.
🏒 Casey Sega finished with 38 goals, 21 assists, and 59 points — nonstop energy every shift.
🧱 Owen DeJohn was a brick wall with 860 saves and a 91.2% save percentage.
💥 Zander Anderson dominated on defense all season and still produced offensively with 8 goals, 15 assists, and 23 points.

So proud of these guys and what they represent — hard work, team-first mentality, and showing up when it matters most. Congrats, Wildcats! 💚🖤
